High usage tariffs

For a variety of reasons, our newly purchased house has a very high gas consumption, also a bit high for electricity but not nearly as bad. We are obviously doing everything we can to reduce consumption, and we keep looking to switch suppliers to get a better deal. But our forecast consumption for the year is apparently above the limits for most of the available deals. Does anyone know of a good tariff (preferably green) that is available for high-use users?

    Well I just entered 60,000kWh gas and 10,000kWh electricity into a comparison website and it gave me results from all the companies.

    What is your forecast consumption?

    In principle you want a low unit price and the daily standard charge is less important, when you have high consumption.

    the comparison table gives rates but when you phone the companies up to take the deal, they say it's too much. 134,000 gas and 19000 elec (kwh)

    You said you bought a house!

    When you say 134,000 gas do you mean 134,000kWh - which is more than 10 times the UK average. 19,000kWh electricity is 6 times the UK average.

    A cheap quote for that lot would be around £6,000pa

    We have just moved to an extremely large, open plan house with a heated indoor swimming pool, so these estimates are not off the scale for us. But obviously we are doing as much as we possibly can to reduce consumption, use renewable sources (we have loads of solar panels) etc but we also need to get the actual price down. Currently with Eon (inherited from previous owner). We moved from a large, draughty, ramshackle old house and thought this modern one would be more economical both in terms of cost and usage, but seems not......

    With very high consumption you will need a low unit(kWh) rate and the Daily Standing Charge is less important.

    You will probably get the best deal from using separate suppliers.

    Enter into a comparison website firstly, say, 60,000kWh gas.

    Then 10,000kWh electricity.

    At that level of consumption those tariffs will almost certainly be the best even if you use more energy.
