I read through the article that shows the steps needed to see whether the house I'm living in
is in the wrong band and here's what I found:
I don't own the house, so we pay rent every month.
The house is in Band D and both adjacent houses are in Band D as well, however all the
houses next to my house are all band A; These houses are very similar to ours
Last year we were thinking of buying the house and we got an offer of £110k
I used that estimate to check the historical price back in 1991,which puts me
at a Band B.
I'm not sure what to do next, I feel like there can't be such a huge difference between 3 houses with band D and all the
remaining houses on that street being Band A.
Based in England/North west.
Is this matter something that can be fixed by calling them?

I have contacted them and given them some information about some of the house in the vicinity that looked similar in size and had Band A.
They checked it for me and said the houses are smaller than ours and they advised me that I can look for a like to like house within a 2 mile radius that has a lower band and report it back to them.
I know how to check the band but how can I check the house spec (size, rooms, etc), is this publicly available?

As far as I am aware there is no way of finding house specifications, unless you can find archived sales info on line. Old local newspaper ads may give number of bedrooms, but certainly not house size.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
