Cost of new clutch for Toyota Yaris

First Anniversary Combo Breaker
Hello

I hope someone can help me. My clutch has been very stiff for a few months now. I finally got my head out of the sand and took it to the garage for a check-up. I'm told I need a new clutch and the total cost will be £490. Does this seem reasonable? This is in the south east so I expect that labour will cost a bit more than other areas.

    How much for the parts and how much labour? What brand of parts and what warranty?

    I was told £110 for parts. Not sure what brand the parts would be. I imagine they aren't Toyota. No warranty was mentioned.

    £380 labour = not cheap.

    Take it elsewhere.

    Was that original quote from a Toyota dealership? They used to have a reputation for fair repair prices on Toyota repairs.

    Get a second opinion.

    It's not normal for a clutch itself to "go stiff" through wear, far more likely to be in the actuation (pedal pivots / master / slave cylinders. Replacing the whole clutch for something that could be as simple as a tight pedal pivot is about as sensible as my mother-in-law who was about to buy a new washing machine last week because the £12 door catch broke!
