When does the year start for an ISA?

Hi there,
I was just wondering if somebody could clear this up for me. If I opened a LISA in September 2017, do I have until April to pay in up to £4,000, or until September this year? I'm asking because if I were to buy a house in March 2019 for example, would that count as one year or two i.e. could I pay in £4,000 or £8,000 between September 2017 and March 2019?
Thanks

ISAs follow the tax year. Therefor they start on April 6th and end on April 5th of the following year.0
