Xnas Party in Hotel

Not sure if this is the correct forum but here goes
Our small Company reserved for and paid for in full for 25 people for the 'do' but only 21 turned up. The hotel refused to either refund the difference or suplly extra booze to the value which is £120. Am I being ripped off here or are they correct?
They do provide a good evening, and this was our 3rd or 4th Xmas but if they do not play ball this will be our last.

It might be worth posting on the consumer rights board.

What do the T&Cs say? The venue may well have prepared for 25 people and have costs to cover.

did you inform them prior to the event that your group would be four people light

if you booked for 25 and on the night only 21 turned up then they had provide food for four people at your request and you are now trying to get out of paying for the no shows

Sorry, but the hotel have done nothing wrong. You booked for 25 people and they have charged for 25 people. It is not the hotel's fault that four failed to turn up.

Imagine if every party was 4 light, the staffing requirement would be less, the food/drink order would be less. Why should the hotel bear that cost?

Usually, you are required to confirm numbers prior to the night, if you did this and then people didn't turn up then that is not the fault of the hotel, if you didn't then perhaps you should have.

We have had a situation today - we booked tickets for a panto several months ago. This was for girls in Guiding, and for several units. Our unit didn't have enough girls booking tickets, although we estimated that we would. We have taken the loss. The theatre shouldn't (and didn't) lose out because we didn't have enough girls booking their palce on a Guiding trip.

When this happens in my team (of ten), we ask the restaurant to still bring out the food order of the missing people so that we can pick off their plates in addition to our own meals :)

Not sure why you are Cross with the hotel. If you have flakey employees who don't show up for a meal the company has paid for then your issue is with them. Food and alcohol is often part of different budgets internally in hotels so extra booze wouldn't have being an option but as Tigs said you could have still asked them to serve the paid for food. Expecting them to substitute with alcohol isn't reasonable.

They provided exactly what you booked but of course as the customer it is entirely your prerogative to book elsewhere next year.
