    Hi ThinkPink,
All ok here just feel a bit spaced and a level of exhaustion I've never encountered before. Not even when I used to work nights!

We had friends round on Friday and I just had a few sips of prosecco and took my glass with me into the kitchen when I was cooking and threw it down the sink. DH reports it wasn't at all noticeable. We then moved on to G&T so I just ditched the G part. We have a cover up plan for Xmas that involves telling mum and my brother. My brother always plays batman so he can fix me something mock tail like. I also have some booze free mulled wine ready to go. I'm going to drive on Boxing Day and then pretend I'm hung over I'm at the in laws on sat.
The only trouble will be NYE when we are at one of my oldest friends for dinner. Bound to be boozy so may end up spilling the beans.

Re your friend who has been TTC. May be best to tell them before hand so they can get any unwanted negative feelings out of the way rather than springing it on them on the day. Then when you see them it'll be genuine happiness for you.

:oHi everyone, had my works Christmas party on Friday, drinking started at 2pm in the pub before we headed to our dinner/dance, so I just said initially that I wasn't wanting a heavy drinking session so wasn't starting that early, got a few raised eyebrows but that's about it. Was also hoping that as its a big company I wouldn't be with the same folk all the time so they wouldn't spot the missing alcohol. until, one of my male colleagues who I was at the pub with basically called me out infront of the whole table demanding why I wasnt drinking. It was awful. Tried to say wasn't feeling like it and tried mumbling some excuse but I was mortified! So then I gave up and stuck to water the while night, no pretence!

Have friends over this weekend and just said that I'd had a heavy night the night before and that I'll drive today. Which seems to have been accepted, although we are also with them over new year, so I dont know what I'll do :o OH says to just tell them (he's already told his parents) I think it's far too early to be telling folk and don't want to tell anyone before it's safe(r) to do so!

Think pink, I'm sorry i have no advice, tho I have no doubt you will tell them in a sympathetic way. It's clear you care as you wouldn't be asking on here, your friends will know your concern but will no doubt be happy for you. X

ETA: he told them! There's no containing him:o just desperately hope everything goes ok as I don't think I would've said anything so early on:(

This ^^^ is brilliant advice. Maybe send an email or something to them beforehand so they can read it and get their emotions out of the way behind closed doors and like pm04gn says they'll have genuine happiness for you on the day and you can all enjoy the celebrations. They will appreciate you considering their feelings on this, trust me on that.

As for me, I'm 8.5 weeks now and feeling rough as anything! Lots of nausea and tiredness, no appetite whatsoever, but no actually being sick (thank goodness, I really feel for those of you who are being sick). I didn't feel like this with my last pregnancy last year. We have got our early scan tomorrow as arranged by my specialist midwife, so am currently feeling a mix of completely terrified that it's all going to end but also very excited as it means we're closer to telling our families at Christmas, as keeping it to ourselves has been killing us.

Really hope everyone is well and coping in the run up to Christmas with all the parties - loving the tales of sneakily not drinking and pouring drinks down sinks!

I feel sick constantly, but haven't actually been sick. I hope that's not yet to come for me :(

I'm with you on hoping it sticks at the nausea stage. I get a wave every now and again.
Had to have a 20min sit down earlier and as was feeling rather faint.

I may get oh to text and let them know. It's just difficult as I normally would prefer to do things like this face to face but in this case I do think pre warning is a better idea. I think eventually they will be happy for us, it's just they have had such a hard time over the last three years which has included their sister in law having baby number 6 and number 7 since they started trying, and all they want is one healthy baby and it doesn't seem to be happening for them.

Starting to get really anxious for Wednesday now, just want to know all is ok.

I had 4 days off last week due to intense nausea :( It really wasn't fun at all. Rang the docs who asked me to log how many times I was actually sick, and if it was 5 or more times 3 days in a row to go in. Thankfully it wasn't (it tapered down after Tuesday's count of 10!), so I've just been keeping my fluids up. Thankfully my 2 senior managers know, and have been amazing so I haven't had to stress about being off. Now, just today and tomorrow to get through!

Good luck with telling your friend ThinkPink - whilst there's bound to be some negative feelings from them initially, I'm sure they'll really appreciate your thoughtfulness in letting them know :)

I've got a doctors appointment tomorrow - the first one - does anyone know if they'll do a blood test whilst I'm there?

Hi Slowly Fading - not sure to be honest. With my first two pregnancies, only the midwife took bloods but it depends on what jobs the GP vs the midwife do at your surgery.

Sorry that doesn't help much but hopefully somebody else will be along soon to give their views.
