Thank you all, you have reassured me these are trivial issues that won!!!8217;t be costly to remedy. We offered asking price as we really wanted the house! So back to waiting to exchange it is!0

Trivial issues carry on!
My survey seemed a bit daunting in first read (30's semi) but Once we read through it, realised it wasn't quite that bad.
Yes some things needed doing but it wasn't falling down and we are now nearly 9mths later working though the expensive bits of work.
We didn't ask for a reduction as we got for asking price due to our buying position and it's all part of maintaining a house. Not all FTB panic at their surveys and demand a lot of the vendors.....0 -
Refreshing to hear, LauraLou. Perhaps the saner element of FTBs are conspicuous by their absence on here as they are too busy actually taking responsibility and doing up their homes.
I will own one can acquire a slightly skewed view when asked whether the presence of a manhole cover is grounds for requesting compensation...0 -
I'm surprised a house that is just 4 years old does not have an extractor fan in the bathroom, especially if it doesn't have a window.Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.0

Smodlet I am that FTB with jobs to do but I'm pretty chilled and we took our time and researched a lot, I still manage to find time to browse on here. I found these forums whilst preparing to buy and they were so useful, kind of never lost the habit of having a browse!0

That was in no way intended as a criticism, I assure you. It is so good to make the acquaintance of someone with your attitude. It gives me hope; not much, just a little bit.0

There is a fan, just not one with the sort of filter the surveyor recommends. I really should check my notifications more often!0 -
We just had a quote for an extractor fan replacement, and they are replacing the piping to the outside of the loft space too as the current piping is flexible and they recommend rigid so there is no pooling of condensation - £250 all in, parts and labour.0
