Ok so Beginning of August I started going swimming once a week (Sometimes miss some)

August, I did 15/20 laps (Average speed) in about 1 hour 30 mins

September, I started to go 2 times a week and do about 25/30 laps in 1 hour 30...

End of Sept I started to go 3 times a week and do about 30 laps in about 1 hour 15/30 min

October, I kept doing 30 laps but getting quicker (45mins/1hour) (Missed a week due to a cold)

Last 2 weeks or so I kept doing 30 laps sometimes 32 laps in 45mins/1 hour

Today I did 38 laps in 55 mins (Felt really good about it)

I feel that I am getting fitter/more energetic/happier and loosing weight everywhere (Belly fat is going down slowly not big difference yet) (Wasn't that bad anyway)

Food I ate after swimming was Ham Sandwich 50/50 bread and chicken & bacon mayo pasta salads..

Is there anything I should change or am I doing fine??

You are doing a great job! I read somewhere that swimming and cycling is the best for loosing weight! So just start cycling as well if you can!

    Update

I go swimming 3-4 times a week (Unless ill or got plans) 40 lengths

I feel allot fitter/have more energy & feel muscles are getting stronger.

I am loosing weight everywhere (Except for belly fat) & can feel muscles toning up etc...

I eat some junk food but eat heathy most days etc..

Usually have pasta salad after swimming..

My body fat is still there I can't seem to reduce this...

I still walk to work & walk loads at work

    Update

I last went swimming last Monday

Got to about 20 lengths and started to get this sharp pain in my left arm, I motored on to 40 lengths....

Since then some days my arm is fine some days it hurts (Not as bad a last Monday) e.g get a numb feeling/pain etc

    What could this be??

The pain is around shoulder/arm pit area... How long till I can go swimming again??

Don't wanna go back to soon and make it worse...

My arm feels allot better, than it was...

Went swimming for the first (In about a month) yesterday swam for 35 mins (Couldn't do any more as left arm started to ache) so went into sauna...

Today my left arm has had a tingling feeling/pain (Bit like when you have tooth ache)

will hopefully go again at the weekend and see how I go. If it's don't get better will go physio...

I just wanna get back to swimming properly again
  • I would suggest having it checked out. You don't know what the problem is so its better to get checked now and figure out the problem rather than risking further damage which may take longer to recover from.

I do a lot of running and had a similar indecent where my left knee just broke down. I tried to carry on but ended up making it worse and couldn't do any exercise for a few months.

Working with a physio (i got through the NHS) it was because i was only using certain muscle groups and so the other muscles under developed causing tension and eventually.. painful knees... So go get it checked out :)

Sounds like you were on a roll before this! Good luck getting back into it!
  • See your doctor - if you're damaging/straining your shoulder from swimming so much (you might need to improve your technique in the long run), continuing might cause you a lot of pain and take months to heal.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Update my arm is feeling allot better (Still hurts a little bit but don't notice it)

After that swim I stopped swimming for 2-3 weeks (Only went 1-2 times a week doing very light)

in the last 2 weeks or so I have been going about 3 times a week doing about 30 lengths then going in the sauna... my arm aches a bit after swimming but feels fine in the morning...

    I haven't seen Physio yet...

Either it's a trapped nerve that fixed itself or you have some rotator cuff tendinitis or even impingement issue from overuse.

Easily fixable you don't necessarily need physio.

I would however do some rotator cuff strengthening exercises. Use a light weight, high reputations

The problem may seem fixed but it will come back or you risk further injury unless you strengthen your rotator cuff
