I didn't think they could do this, have ebay demanded you refund the amount?

That's really tough though can you relist it?
    Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T
  • Its through paypal and the buyer has launched a dispute, so the money is suspended, I had already withdrawn it and now it looks like I will have to pay it back :( the thing is I can't understand what the issue is, I described it as it is and don't see why I should refund the money??

  • That's maddening! Have you posted on the eBay board? Don't know if they'll be able to help get back the money, but there's some great advice on there about eBay selling generally. I've got a buyer who I suspect is going to cause trouble, so I think I might stick to car boot sales from now on :(
    Overpay!
  • I know what you mean might just be easier to stick to car boots, not P&P no fees no getting stung by your blasted buyer !
Will post on the ebay board ! many thanks for the advice !!

  • If it is an 'Item not as described' claim then they will have to send it back to you before their money is returned. Of course if they don't send it by a trackable means then you may not receive it...if you catch my drift

If it is an 'Item not received' claim then you will need to provide Paypal with an online tracking number.

    Dont use paypal.

its really frightening. Paypal is a scammers paradise.

To be covered by the paypal seller protection the item must have been sent by a recorded method and the buyer must have signed for it in person. If they dont sign for it in person then your not covered.

Anyone who is wanting to scam you would obviously sign a different name and paypal wont protect you. Its virtually worthless.

My advice to you is to keep your money and let them take you to court if they want to. They generally back down after a certain period of time. Hopefully it wont get that far though.
  • Wow thats really scary !

I know he received it as he is disputing its not as described, am now worried though that he wont return it and I will be out of pocket : (

I will def stop using paypal as if he had paid via cheque he wouldn't have been able to just take the money back like that without first returning the item to me

Paypal shouldn't refund until the item is returned... How about you go pay him a visit.. hehe

Hows he saying that its not as described? Has he started a dispute with paypal and have you responded? Either way they should make him return the item before you refund. What sort of item was it?

  • It was a trumpet - don't laugh ! a real trumpet 14yrs old in great condition for its age, he's come back saying it was not described properly and he's had to go out and buy another one ! I wouldn't mind but the auction ended on the 17th Sept I posted it 48hr delivery (and undercharged for the delivery mind you) and its taken until now for him to say its not what he thought it was....
