Help - Fridge/Freezer not working

Our 4 year old Hotpoint HM315FF Fridge/Freezer has stopped working. The light to the fridge is still on which would suggest it's not the electric supply.

My DH switched it on & off a couple of times last night which started the motor running, but it stopped again sometime during the night.

We've checked the trouble shooting part of the manual but it's no help.

Anyone with experience of this type of problem & any advice would be greatly appreciated.
