Well, I had a list divided into a few places, but in the end decided that I could get everything for immediate use, so no point in going further than Lidl. I have to go past other supermarket when I get my petrol on the way to choir tonight, so just left it. Or might just wait till Sunday when I usually shop as early as poss to get whoopsied items. Was lovely to come straight home.
Now my next challenge is to try and sort out January. I'm sure I've got enough staples and meals in the freezer already, will just need to get fresh food. Life will change early next year. DD is already abroad on gap year till May. She'll be in Uni next Sept. Dh is embarking on working abroad, short visits till Feb, then away for most of 2 years. So it will be a bit of a different way of life, just ds and I. He's applying to a specialist school for 6th form, which will necessitate boarding. So I could end up on my own.
I need to start and plan for all the above so that I have appropriate meals without going and buying loads of stuff in specially."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Orkney or anyone
When I make my macaroni cheese, I can't seem to get it right. If I make a white sauce and then bake it in the oven with the cooked pasta, it seems to lose it's "sauciness" and just comes out one great big gloopy lump. Is there a magic trick to making a nice cheesey, thick sauce for macaroni cheese?0 -
hmmm i tend to cook the pasta, make my cheese sauce (not necessarily in that order tho!) mix the two together, sprinkle more cheese on top then grill for 5 mins just to get the browned cheesiness.
