Are you off work this week Alice, hope you are enjoying it if so.

Re the heating we are the same as you, was definitely November last year but with the weather as it is im not sure as yet! Hopefully we can keep it going til November though, hate paying for the heating!! xx

Hi mummy, yeah I'm off all week. Last 24hrs have been a challenge (more about that in a mo:o) but I like been at home with the kids.:)
I'm with you on heating off until Nov 1st! Let's see who breaks first :rotfl:

We've had a staycation for the last 7 years  i'm kind of used to it now. I would like to take the kids abroad though at some point as the two smaller ones have never been.

P.s I've had my iron for a little while now, i think the best way to make sure it lasts is to keep it in the box and never use it :rotfl: I have a knack of breaking them/dropping them on my feet :o and for health & safety reasons I steer clear of it now! xx

I like your idea DFW but doing the ironing and all the pegging out is part of my training for the washing and ironing Olympics.:rotfl:

    brizzledfw wrote: »
    You're on! :)

And my attitude to ironing is like yours. DFW....its a snowball in hell event when it does come out of the cupboard! :rotfl:

Looks like we've got ourselves a bit of a competition, who's going to flick the switch first......when it goes cold I'm going to tell the kids were in a competition to see how long we can go with out the heating, they're quite competitive.:rotfl:

As for ironing brizzle, it's my guilty pleasure I just can't stop myself. :D :rotfl:

    Where do I start........

Yesterday evening DS was taking a glass back into the kitchen, tripped and smashed the glass on the work top, cutting his hand on the process. It was pretty nasty so went off to A&E, 4hrs later, £8 parking fee and £18 in McDs we were back home. Back tomorrow to have the dressing changed.

Today we dropped car off (had to jump start it???) for MOT and work done. Picked up new tyres and inner tubes for OHs bike £30, inner tube for DSs bike £5. The pun went off to get school shirts £20, new underwear for both DSs £16, school shoes for DS2 £35, met a friend for lunch in the sburys cafe (not planned) £22, foodstuffs £7, haircuts for OH and DS1 £16 for both. Took trousers to be turned up £7, spent £4 in card shop.

Whilst I was in town my sandal broke and I had to flipperty flop back to the car.:o

Then took a call from the garage, MOT, 2 x 'arms', steering thingy, new circuit board and reset airbag (apparently when we jump started it this morning we blew the circuit :(), total so far nearly £400.:mad::(:o:(

OH has gone off on one. I've told we will sort it....what else can I say?

Aww brizzle, thank you. After another sleepless night I'm going to have another look at the budget this morning. I think well in know we will be short for paying stepchange when we pay for the car. I'm not sure we can reduce another months payment as we've only just had a reduced month.

OH mentioned it to a friend last night and he could of got some of the parts cheaper........now he tells us! The garage are going to call this morning once they've sorted the airbag/circuit board problem out and we should know then the final cost.

Have just remembered we've still got to tax my car. The other car tax can wait, even though we will of spent all this money on it.:(

Hi mummy, still waiting for the garage to call.........I'm sure the longer we wait to hear from them the more it will cost.:(

Have taken DS2 to having his hand checked, OH dropped us off and waiting down the road to save on parking charges.

Have checked the budget and called stepchange to see what they say. Such a lovely lady on the phone, she wasn't patronising she just talked me through the options and of course I cried. It took me back to the first time I ever called and I sobbed my heart out to them.

Anyway tears all wiped away and I've pulled myself together. (OH and DS3 have gone a bike ride as we were supposed to go swimming but a bike ride is free:o). We can reduce next months payment to a minimum of £45, but until I know exactly how much the car is I don't want to make any decisions.

Just to note the only creditor that kicked up a stink last time we reduced payments was Bcard, everybody else was OK. We've reduced it twice in 32months.

On a plus note it's really windy here and the washing is drying a treat.:o:)

This DF journey is along one so expect a few bumps (and tears) on the way. Wish we didn't have to rely so much on cars cos at times they cause such a big expense. Was hoping that one of my DS's would end up as a car mechanic and save me some money but sadly not. Anyway Alice take a deep breath and carry on, come and have a rant anytime you feel like it.x

I hope you hear from the garage soon and the bill isn't as bad as you fear.

Good about SC though. Bcard have been by far our best predator, accepted the offer with no quibble and renew each year with updated figures. I'm hoping they are as keen to accept my minimum settlement offer too.

Thanks amber, I totally agree I wish we didn't have to rely on the cars as. Uh as we do, unfortunately no alternative. I'm hoping one of our kids will be a dentist or a plasterer or a hairdresser.:rotfl:

I didn't come on here last night I was just too angry, angry at the world. Took myself off to bed early.

The car bill was £400, we still need to tax both cars today £217 for both cars for 6months.

Yesterday we had to get petrol, we went to charity event in the town, spent £7 on raffle tickets, tombola and an ice cream.

I've looked at the budget this morning, in laws have offered to lend us the money for the car, which is great in one way as we wouldn't have to reduce the payment to stepchange but on the other hand we would have to find the money to pay it back. I can't believe I'm actually 'frightened' of reducing the payment to Bcard. :o. What's that all about???

Also in laws are the most discreet of folk, I'm know my mother in law will be telling everyone how they had to help us out.....oh the shame.:o:)

Have done meter reading this morning, we are £55 in credit. We have used £24 gas/elec in 2 weeks. The electic bill should come down when DS2 goes back to school on Tuesday so his tv and games console won't be on all day.

Have got bus money and milk money ready. Just got tomorrow to get through and then back to normal.;)

Will have a chat with OH today about in laws lending us the money or reduce the payment to stepchange. Should be interesting as your know he doesn't want anything to do with the money side of things!!
