BBC Loses Great British Bake off 12th Sep 16 at 7:13 PM
The current series will be the last Series of Great British Bake Off on the BBC.

Seems Love Productions are after money the Beeb just does not have.

I've only watched one or two episodes in this series...there's only so much cake-making I can take in this weather!

And it's all so intense now. The first few episodes used to just have the contestants making ordinary cakes or biscuits that most of us have tried at one time or another. Now it's all mirror icing (what?) and gingerbread storyboards and everyone is doing "sugarcraft" and upteen layers and so on and so on.

I do watch "An Extra Slice" though....some of the viewer's cakes are much more at my level!

I call it "The cake Baking National Challenge".
    Here to help.

    It doesn't matter.
For those that like it, it will be available.

    That's all people care about.

It's just a bunch of people making cakes, hardly vital/earth shattering stuff.

Great news! Next year I will be able to watch it online on whichever channel it goes to and cancel my TV licence, seeing as Bake Off is all I watch on the BBC anyway.

I am not one bit bothered. Flour, eggs, lard, butter, raising agent, colouring, stress, the lights, timing, sweating, sex appeal, there I said it, and the result is a cake or two.

OMG. Do we all want to make lovely cakes or what?

Cannot get the appeal myself, but there we are.

Some people are minted after this drivel, but I suppose if it has appeal, they did it right. And good luck to them. It would be like watching paint dry, or a cake to rise for me. And I could never do either!

Seeing as it's going to Channel 4, it'll be 'sponsored by' some food manufacturer and no doubt it'll have more swearing, and as C4 is so "rad" it'll feature more contestants from BEM and LGbT communities, plus more nudity too.

I know it's the same production company making it, but I think it's the BBC that sets the tone, C4 will needle with the format I'm sure, in same way Top Gear will suck on Amazon.
