Birthday Suprise Summer Holiday

Hello everyone 
I know the whole surprise thing has been spoken about but I am really struggling with this.
I am booking a week away in the sun (6 hour flight) and its for my boyfriends birthday but we will be leaving a week before his actual birthday so that we are home to spend it with his family.
Keeping it a secret will be easy as I have already managed to get him the time off and he won't suspect a thing.
How can I announce it? I wanted to wait until the day we fly but we have to leave for the airport at around 4.30am and I don't want to miss anything out of his suitcase.
Any advice would be really appreciated, thank you so much!
