National Grid Transco and BG Plc Shares Certificates

Whilst doing a major sort out of paperwork, I have found 2 ordinary share certificates - 1 for National Grid Transco and BG Plc. As far as I am aware, I don't receive dividends from them and I wonder if BG Plc wasn't taken over by National Grid Transco. Does anyone know if the certificates are still worth anything or do I bin them?

Both these companies have been through various transformations.

Rather than asking here, you would do better to contact the registrars -
Equiniti for BG Group plc http://www.equiniti.com/
    and
Capita for National Grid plc http://www.capitaregistrars.com/

THe various demergers that the old British Gas has gone through are quite complicated, but as an ex-employee of BG plc, I can confirm that both companies are still in existence - so your share certificates should still be valid.

Previous advice is correct though - contact the registrars of both companies to confirm - and claim arrears of divideneds if not paid!!.
