    OK - I see that "V" codes are not generally available, so I got one from ebay for £1.95 instead.

    Sorry. Serial numbers beginning with a V are not available free. They are Ford dealer or radio specialist dealer only as the codes are not calculated from the serial number and access is needed to Ford's database to retrieve the code.
