Found it on BCA
I had a look on WBAC and with adding in the damage, they value it at £10,635. This would be in line with your thinking of approx £11K auction price. Maybe £11,200.
As you say, this would compare favourably with the retail price approx £15,500 (and again the dealer margin is roughly right there at £3.5K)

Hi,
Thanks for your help
So are you saying I should aim to get the car out of the door, including the BCA fee for £11,200 or that I should aim to bid 11,200 plus BCA fee on top?
Should I be worried about the fact that it has 2 previous owners yet is ex-lease and also that the contract hire was for 26 months but only started a year ago (possible repo)?
TIA0 -
To me it sounds like it was ex lease for 2 years, then someone bought it on contract hire and had the car repo'd hence the 2 previous keepers, so not really something I'd be too concerned about.0

You should aim to get the car for as little as possible, however its up to you how much you want to pay for it.
Even Glass's Guide and CAP are only going to give you an estimate of what its worth, not a precise figure.
Personally - it needs the bonnet and back bumper painted, so theres £500. If you go over £11K, then £600 fees and £500 paintwork will take you over £12K. Even IF you dont do the paintwork, you need to bear in mind what the car needs to make in mint. You "could" buy one through a dealer for £14K ish, so its how close you want to run to that or how prepared you otherwise are to run up and down the country looking at cars in supermarkets that may not be mint anyway.
You might be lucky and get it for £11K or you might be up against another privateer who really wants it, or a trade man with a customer already or an indy who specialises in this sort of stuff and wants it for stock. Maybe someone will see it at £12K, £500 repairs and retail it at £15,995. Maybe the trade wont want it. Very hard to say.
I would have thought £11-11.5K should own it, but it could take more...
Would be v interested to hear the outcome though.0 -

No probs. I would say they will - new model, reasonable warranted miles.
The advantage you have is you can bid a bit more to get it, compared to what they can go to to protect their margin.
Let us know how it goes. Good Luck!!0 -

Thanks. The hammer price was £12,600.00. Which was over my limit by some bit. However, similar cars locally in Scotland are selling for £15,995.
The cheapest I could find in England is this (they say new shape but the price looks too good to be true?) - £12,879 (what do you think the catch is?)

And also this at £14,250:

I need a car soon given that mine has been written off. Is it possible to pay an agent to bid on your behalf at auction (I do not fancy a trip to the next aucion is Preston without the guarantee of a result)

Or you could just buy a retail car within your budget.
Sorry if that's too radical!0
