Is this tyre dangerous?

For all those jumping on the "why do you need to ask" wagon, it's worth bearing in mind that those would (as far as the photos show) pass an MOT.
Given that most drivers aren't mechanics, it's reasonable for them to assume that an item that would pass an MOT is ok for now.0 -
Out of interest what is the vehicle ? How old.
I would expect crackling like that to be c10 years0 -
Just polish them cracks out with some G30

Also beginning to wonder, given that the other three tyres on the car were ultra budget tat, whether the Avon might have been bought as a pre-worn or some such and may be even older than you would expect
Or ... the Avon is an original tyre and was previously the spare in the boot but was fitted after a puncture?0 -

we have some 2 year old coopers that are cracking away nicely and got some impressive gaps, garage who fitted them doesn't care of course, so much for quality, was told coopers were brilliant tyres!
I will disclaim for others that they are no longer on the car0 -
Found the date stamp - 24-11, so it's just over 5 year old.Joe_Horner wrote: »For all those jumping on the "why do you need to ask" wagon, it's worth bearing in mind that those would (as far as the photos show) pass an MOT.

Gotta love the sense of superiority some people have. No one ever learnt anything by not asking. It's not something I've had before so didn't know (I know, what a terrible human being, not knowing something), thought I would get a sensible reply on here, so yes I HAD TO ASK. I apologise for being so utterly inferior in my knowledge in comparison to your almighty greatness, but thanks to those who answered without the sarcasm :silenced:
Sorry if my shock at your lack of basic common sense offends you.
The correct response would have been "gee i didnt realise they were really that bad, thanks for the unanimous feedback!", as opposed to being indignant at the perceived tone of some responses.
Those tyres are a risk to you, your passengers and other road users.0 -
