  • Hi,

I have just had a call from 08700679826 . I very rarely give my number out to companies, so I wonder how they are getting the numbers to ring?
  • I have some interesting info on this scammer. I trawled google for info and came across an XLS document which contains the name, address and mobile number of the guy who own TelXL, the company running the missed call scam.

I phoned him on his miobile, and he was unwilling to give the real geographical number for the cell centre where the 0870 scam directs to. He was also unwilling to talk about TelXl. Here are his details - give him a ring about the missed call you received and ask for a GEOGRAPHICAL number of that call centre.

In fact text his number to all your friends who've had a missed call scam, email all your contacts, and get them to phone him too.

    TelXL Ltd,
    Mr Paul Gallini,
2 Chapel Court, Holly Walk, Lemington Spa, CV32 4YS
    Tel: 07966 202 150
    Fax: 01926452640

Mobile numbers are sold on about 18 months after they are last used by the previous owner. They are supposed to be 'cleaned' but this doesn't always happen. My son bought a brand new mobile with PAYG T mobile. His first £5 top up was gobbled up by a !!!!!! firm subscribed to by the previous owner. The telephone shop (TMobile, Worcester) did not want to know and said it was for me to sort out with TMobile! I phoned ICTIS and they supplied what they call a 'short code' so I was able to get a refund from the !!!!!! firm as sending this kind of message to someone who doesn't want it is illegal, particularly on a fifteen year old's phone. It took the best part of a day to sort all this out. We were also promised a refund of £4.80 from TMobile but this was never honoured.

If only I could have explained things like that away so easily to my parents when I was 15.

I had a text message from 07787 534160 which had a great message for my young kids to hear . Hmm pornographic is a bit tame. I'm ex directory so where are the calls coming from. Since Friday afternoon they have been coming twice a day. Not sure how to stop them as not sure who is sending the messages in the first place.
  • Ask vodafone who uses the number. The call may have been expensive.
    Ofcom need shooting.
This is what we know about the number you entered (07787534160).

ICSTIS does not regulate this type of number. However we can tell you the following.

    * This is classified as being used for Mobile services.
    * It is provided by Vodafone Ltd.
  • Hi,

I have just had a call from 08700679826 . I very rarely give my number out to companies, so I wonder how they are getting the numbers to ring?

That company, TelXL just dials sequential numbers, so if you were to phone your number neighbours and ask them if they'd received a call from them, they probably have.

It's a scam. If they call again ANSWER THE PHONE - it costs them to call you. Keep them talking as long as possible and just give them fake information. DO NOT RING THAT NUMBER YOURSELF. Phone 0121 2466733 to speak to Nigel Fox, the Manager if you want to complain.

  • Hi,

I have recently (within the last few days) received my new phone from Carphone Warehouse. Today I have received 5 calls from the following number:

    0845 0020012

I only answered one of the calls from this number and the caller hung up without saying anything. All I could hear was general 'office' noise in the background so my guess is that it was a recording. Googling this number produces many references to a company called LBM. However, when I rang the number I was connected to a recorded message that said the company concerned was in fact New Logic Communications.

Most of the complaints on the internet seem to be coming from people who, like me, have an O2 account with Carphone Warehouse. Coincidence? The operator at CPW I have just spoken to said that they do not give out their clients' numbers and they will not take any responsibility for such nuisance calls. His recommendation was that I should ring the number and ask them to stop the calls. I have just found one thread on saynoto0870.com which states CPW are, in fact, responsible. The correspondent says that he was able to solve the problem and end the unwanted calls by calling CPW customer services on 0208 8965000.

If you call the 0845 number above all you get is a recorded message. If New Logic Communications is a genuine company why do they behave in such a peculiar way? Why do CPW associate themselves with a company like this? A real, honest company would surely be more interested in answering the call to get your business rather than, apparently, simply making a quick profit from telephone calls from people trying to stop nuisance calls!

If you receive any such calls that you don't want to answer, save the number into your phone under the name 'Do Not Answer' (in capitals) and set the ringing tone to silent.

I have been receiving calls from 029 20368792 a month or so back and use the above tactics - it stops!
