If you are with Vodafone, you can get them to add the 0800/0870/0845 calling pack. Quite handy if you make a lot of calls, and this deducts the calls out of your monthly minutes.

It wasn't something I asked for but was offered with my most recent upgrade.

You can use telesave via landline access number 020 7043 9950

0870 calls are 1.5p/min peak 1p/min off peak
0845 calls are 4.5p/min peak 1p/min off peak
Off-peak for Telesave begins at 6pm and ends 8am Monday-Friday

You need to register from a landline (call 0800 066 4000) and top up £10
Then email support@telesave.co.uk to get your mobile linked to your account.

Calls come out of your prepaid credit. There is a minimum call charge of 4p but NO CONNECTION FEE like most people charge these days. The same account might also double up as a cheap way to make daytime calls from your landline if you don't have an inclusive package.

Unfortunately, Telesave does not allow 0844 and 0871 calls so not a complete NGN solution, but helpful for 0845 and 0870. Hope this helps.

If we're going to be picky, 18185 are only actually cheaper for weekday 0845 daytime calls over 3 minutes. Telesave charge to the next penny, whereas 181815 round up their minutes, don't they? A daytime 0845 call for 2 mins 5 secs would be 14p with 18185 and 10p with Telesave. A short (45 second) call will be 8p with 18185 and 4p with Telesave.
