When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Morning guys :wave: been up a while as dgd has a cold and is feeling poorly so wasn't the greatest night, so I thought I'd kick us off :D

Today I am starting my first shift at the pub. Hope it's ok, has been years since I've worked in a bar!

Things I need to get done today:

* [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]finish off dgd's pack lunch[/STRIKE]
* put dinner in SC
* do some exercise, was gonna go for a run but weather looks shocking. Will do an exercise dvd instead
* sort out SE cert - if this is on my list tomorrow kick me please :o
* submit meter readings
* use up sandwiches & soup for lunch
* vacuum & polish
* hang up washing

Ok think that's all I need to do for now. Have a lovely Tuesday everyone x

    Morning DNMS and all that follow :D - thanks for the start.
    I feel terrible this morning. I have been awake for most of the night feeling sick with awful pains in my stomach. I'm soldiering on though - our head of department was off sick yesterday, plus one of the other department staff sent me a text during the night saying her dd had been rushed into hospital. Plus we still have one supply teacher and a part time supply technician in the department - which will leave 3 permanent members of staff in a department servicing the whole school. I can't bear the thought of a day off.
    Anyway, busy list as ever but I'm so tired I'm not sure how much I'll get done
    _pale_ check banking
    _pale_ rearrange my appointment
    _pale_ mark books
    _pale_ text bestie re Christmas stuff
    _pale_ keep a food diary for friend
    _pale_ acquire some more heavy duty toilet cleaner
    _pale_ make no big decisions and stay stress free
    _pale_ 15 mins housework and declutter
    _pale_ get the kids to do their chores
    _pale_ get dh to post my eBay sales
    _pale_ try and find a cheap lint roller for my daughter (my kids astound me sometimes with the things they want)
    _pale_ other than that nsd
    _pale_ all meals from stores
    Right - it's getting late and I still haven't managed to get ds out of bed.

    Morning All

    Thanks for the start Determined. Hope the pub job is fun.

    Today I will.
    1. Check banking - on the final leg now of November's pay, tenant normally pays on the 25th so last day of dregs today. OH pay day Monday.
    2. Work out how many big things have to come out of next month's salary. OH has to return for follow up dental work. It's the cats annual check up. And we have to pay for the gas safety certificate for the flat. We do have more money than normal in December due to how OH'S work pay him. But want to ear mark as much as I can for repayment.

    Need to think of more!

    Morning all :)
    Thanks for the start DNMS - hope you enjoy your new job :)
    Hope everything goes as well for you as possible CCL
    Legomum, I am not a great chocolate eater, but I would be unable to resist sampling one or two of the items in your kitchen :eek:

    So far today I have:
    Done dog walk #1
    Used up last of stewed apple from fridge on my breakfast porridge + yogurt
    Cleaned kitchen floor

    Still to do:
    Inventory at least one of the freezers (I have 2 smallish ones) Done both, and typed out the lists so that I can read them :) Definitely no big shop needed any time soon :eek:
    Find some items for my sales unit from the stash in the loft. This might involve polishing more silver plate - thus reminding me why I don't have/ keep any of my own! Done, but no shiny things this time:D
    Quick hoover round in preparation for grandma day tomorrow, when I will get nothing done! A lick and a promise, as my Mum used to say...
    Not have the heating on downstairs at all - the last couple of days have been cold so I have had the lounge radiator on (and an extra jumper), but it is wet and warm(er) today, so it will be on only in the bathroom and airing cupboard. I expect I will light the wood burner this evening though! Fail - it got cold after lunch and I turned on one radiator. It is still on, and I haven't lit the wood burner :o
    Check banks Oops not done this yet
    Another dog walk Done
    NSD - I don't need anything, so will not be buying! Done :D
    Sort out the drawer that my plastic containers are kept in, and match lids to boxes Not done this yet
    Prepare postal survey items for later in the week Or this :o
    Squelch about in the garden and dig a leek and a parsnip Done
    Make a pot of veggie chilli, which will last me several days. I have all the ingredients for this, even if I do have to dig for some of them! Done, just having a second helping!
    Chop and freeze anything in the fridge that might not get used (might be some peppers left from making the chilli) 2 peppers and most of a gigantic parsnip
    Not use the dishwasher, as there is only me here :)Done
    Empty airing cupboard, and put clean, aired laundry away in the proper places :)Not done this yet
    Got screened out of 2 Ipsos I say surveys
    Checked FPL

    Looks as though I have a few jobs to do this evening :rotfl:

    OK, that lot should keep me busy, more coffee, and then I will make a start :)

    Hi All

    Hope all the poorly ones feel better soon.

    Come up with a master plan re my spending splurge last week. I can take loads back as it all came from m and s and I have receipts. Hurrah. Although I now have to decide what to keep and what to return. I bought only lovely stuff that fitted, so this will not be easy.

    Working tonight until midnight so I will leave this until wednesday night or thursday night. Can then return on saturday.

    Also bought too many work socks for farming, but these will keep and I am not going to Chester to return them!

    Have a good day everyone.

    Maria.

    Morning Money Savers,
    My head is elsewhere this morning, so am trying to keep busy to lift my mood. I'm perfectly ok, but attended a rather peculiar meeting last night, which has left a residual feeling of being out of sorts. have just made an enormous coffee in my Christmas mug & watched our robin tucking into a mushy old windfall pear, so that was nice. Simple things! OK, today's efforts:
    *Ran washer overnight for cheap wash. Have got heated airer on day & night today as there are towels & jeans needing to be dried & a load of bed linen still to come. Timer set for another cheap wash tonight.
    *Pack away mr f's freebies for Christmas (O2 priorities) A pack of Star Wars Chuypa Chups, a net of chocolate coins & a roll of really nice good quality wrapping paper - all from WHS, so do look, if you are with O2.
    *Make stew for dinner using some of the rubber chicken I divvied up yesterday. Intend to make a bit extra to fill mr f's soup mug for tomorrow's packed lunch.
    *Chilly stroll down to veggie garden to pull more baby turnips.
    *Did a few surveys.
    *Checked online banking. Perilously close to dropping into overdraft for the first time for simply ages. There was a dd I'd forgotten about - Bah!! Hope rebate & goodwill payment from energy company comes soon. Though can transfer a tiny loan from Car Fund into current account if necessary & it's payday on Friday.
    *Frame 3 photos. I'm re-gifting one of the frames as it's a nice quirky one & has been in the under bed storage box for years. I'm going to restore it first by using a lint roller on the back to removed fluffy bits & metal polish to bring the front up nicely. I think it will look like brand new.
    *Start wrapping presents. If they are not ready for when I see people (or see people who will in turn see other people & could pass on a card/gift(, then I will have to accept that I'll be spending out on postage.
    *Bottle my berry gin. This may drop off the list until tomorrow, as I don't want to rush the straining process.
    *Make bread - ingredients already in bread machine for this.
    *Two baths from one lot of hot water this morning.
    *Knit some more of the hiking socks I cast on yesterday for mr f. They look very big, but his feet are 11.5, so I think they should be fine. They're walking boot socks so are quite a big & slouchy style anyway.
    *Pack away the leftover pretty yarn from knitting Mum's socks as there is sufficient to knit some baby socks in the new year, when I'm intending to use up some of my yarn stash by knitting a few things for ebay. I've sold quite a few pairs of hand knitted baby socks in the past, so I might start with those......though may change my mind when I see what other yarns I've got waiting to be used!
    *Finished a pear cake by adding last piece to packed lunch. I baked it & sliced it before freezing in individual slices wrapped in foil. Has been so useful for picnics, packed lunches, etc, as just need to whip a slice out & it's defrosted by the time it gets to work coffee break.
    That will do me for today.
    Cheers all,
    f x
