  • Thanks clearmydebts! Yeh so expensive! It just seems all our friends have endless supplies of cash at the moment :( I feel embarrassed when I say I can't afford something coz I see so many of my friends spending all the time.
We are going to New York! :j it's all paid for - we just need spending money now :)

    Oh I love New York!!!

Don't worry about your friends, who knows what debt they are in! Just keep thinking of what fun you'll have on honeymoon with all the extra cash you save :)

  • I haven't posted for a few days... I feel like I'm slipping a bit but haven't gone off the rails yet.

I didn't make it to the end of the month with any money left before pay day but I did manage to get through another month without using my cc!
I bought some trainers last week for New York but I'm going to return them and make do with what I have.
I need to get my hair done soon and buy a couple of bits for my trip so I won't be paying much off my debts this month but it will be at least £150 which is better than nothing! I need some new winter boots. The ones I want aren't cheap but thy will last a long time so I'm going to splurge.
I've managed to save my £500 spending money and I have £70 saved in my Christmas fund.:j
Hopefully after he honeymoon I'll be able to get back on track.

  • Updated my signature!
    Another £100 off the debt.
All my NY spending money saved.
Another £200 added to the emergency fund.:j

I've not been very good lately...
First I bought the trainers but I returned them! Then I bought myself some new winter boots. £135 but I needed them. Then I obviously caught the spending bug again because I then bought some new jeans at £40 and ordered two new cashmere jumpers, reduced but still £60 each. What was I thinking?! I do really need some new jeans as I've lost weight and only have a light pair for summer and a black pair which I wear pretty much everyday at work. I'm going to look out for a cheaper pair though. The jumpers I love and they were 20% off but I don't need them and can't afford them.
I'm not sure what's happened to me lately. i don't want to slip back into my old ways :(

I think we all go through the spendy phase when debt busting as we think to ourselves we deserve it and we do so don't beat yourself up these spending sprees don't occur that often but it's important to treat yourself once in a while whilst on the debt busting journey otherwise you'll resent it xx

Spending on one thing definitely opens the doors to a spendy phase; I wonder whether it's because we remember the enjoyment of having new things and temporarily at least that outweighs how we feel about saving.

Did you budget for these items or did you just buy them impulsively?

I budgeted £200 in total for jeans and some warm work jumpers (have also lost weight so I was living in one pair of jeans, and a bit worried I was going to spend winter shivering!) and came in under that, having purchased two pairs of Levis. I actually really enjoyed the shopping and didn't have the buyers remorse afterwards, hurrah.
  • Very temporary! I make a purchase and then 5 mins later I feel guilty.
Budget? Hmm... well it depends if paying less towards my debt this month counts?! :( I haven't used a credit card which is good but I doubt I'd be leaving myself with enough money to last me the rest of the month if I kept all the purchases. I'm terrible!
I'll try and return the jumpers this evening after work. Hopefully that will make me feel better.

Well done for getting all your bits under budget DD265! That's really good. I'd like to shop without feeling the guilt.
I'll budget next time but I think maybe I'll try and limit the amount of purchases too! One treat is enough :)

Hahah Abba I like you're thinking! This is what I said to my husband last night- I said I would keep one and return one. But then I slept on it and changed my mind.

I think I'll look at my account this afternoon and see what I can afford :)

  • £50 paid to cc1 bring my total debt down to £6400... wish I could pay more this month. Need to up my game.

I returned the jeans and one of the jumpers but I feel bad and still thinking about returning the other one. I do love the feeling of returning stuff though. When the money goes back in my account it feels like I've made money! Which I know is silly because I had the money before I shopped! :rotfl:

I haven't looked for alternative jeans yet but there seem to be a few sales on at the min :)

I'm hoping to get some Christmas presents in New York with the spending money I saved and then hopefully I'll be able to pay more off my debts in November and December.

16 days until pay day... and New York! :j
