the handbrake light isnt just for the handbrake, its also means worn brakepads, low brake fluid and will come on with the ABS light if there is a fault

    is it ( ! )( P ) or just ( P )

Its marked (p) and (i) in the same light

First Post First Anniversary Combo Breaker
You can usually get loads of good advice on the Mondeo website, www.fordmondeo.org , and there is even a guy on there selling diagnostics tools at very reasonable prices. Well worth a try, anyway. Good luck, hopefully its not too serious.

Even if its the ECU, ive got a load on the shelf that I normally sell for 20 quid a piece depending on the code on the box, as theres a few different ecu codes for the mondeos.

Im guessing its a faulty ABS sensor or pump. Not sure about the handbrake light - the sensor is on the handle itself so wouldn't be caused by an overheating break disk, so it could be the ECU.

Buy a scanner from eBay, mine cost me 40 quid and ive seen people charge 50 quid just to hook a car up to the computer and turn the ignition on... If your close to Derby or Leeds I'd let you use mine free.

Yes, breaks get hot, theyre trying to stop something that weighs 1.5 tons.... not so sure it should get so hot so quickly under normal driving.. Does the car feel like its lacking any power? Also, are these warning lights in the instrument panel where the speedo/rev counter is ? Or is it the AWS panel to to the left of the clocks near the air vents that also warn you a door is open?

It's a mondeo, so it'll be duff handbrake cables or a sticky piston in a caliper.

New cables and some WB40 will see it right.

UpdateTook the car to a Ford specialist, they have had a quick look, sounds very ood they say.
They asked to other repair/tech guys there, they have never come across a Mondeo with ABS, Traction AND handbrake light all on at the same time.

Getting a little worried to be fair, thinking maybe ECU related.

Today the car is booked into my local garage to be placed on computer faults reader, been told they don't have a clue either.

I'm thinking it's either the ECU failing or relay gone, could be ABS pump but doubtful to be fai, as the handbrake light is on.

Will update you all after garage has put it on faults today, will be interesting to see what it is.

    Update

Car was put on faults computer, happens to be a ABS wheel sensor.
BUT gets interesting the next bit, look back here next week for a serious warning regarding a national car company who fit tyres etc.
Can't say anything at this moment as in process of compo claim from them.

Watch this space, will explain all next week

Could be mixure mate, or perhaps your head might be gone.

Have you checked the water bottle?
Take off the cap and see what colour it is and smell it, if it's oily, likely you have a headgasket gone.

You should start your own thead as likely to get more replies

    Goodluck
