Taking into account the name of this site, and being partial to a bit of bottled water myself - I could quite happily purchase 16 litres of water from Asda for about a quid seen as the smart price is 13p for 2 litres. Thats well within my limited budget.

But thats besides the point, most people have a food budget for their weekly 'shop' and regardless of how much that is - who is anyone to say what they should by with it?

Exactly! I plan all of my outgoings so I have enough to cover them. I don't spend money on anything else, I only drink water, I think i'm entitled to bottled (which as you say is cheap) if I want it. Keeping money in the bank in case Asda make an error isn't possible & shouldn't be needed either!

i can see uktigerlily's point but i can also see dodger's.

From a personal point of view - if i was going to buy shoppping and it would leave me with just 16p, then regardless of whether i thought there would be a foul up with the delivery, i would have cut back a bit on non-essentials. And whether you like bottled water or not, it's not essential - you have a cold tap and an almost unlimited supply of the stuff.

You don't mention all your circumstances but i'd also reconsider the home delivery option if you're down to the last 67p of your money. Asda charge almost £5 last time i ordered from them. I realise you may have free delivery but you don't say so. When you only have 67p left after shopping, regardless of any asda/bank mistakes, spending £5 to have someone else shop for you probably isn't the best decision

With the greatest respect, if you only have a few pence left after buying your shopping then i'd suggest either cutting back on something.

If you have only a few pence left after shopping then i'd suggest buying water is a luxury you can ill-afford.

I wish people would read my posts, I have said twice (I think!) that I have a medical condition which means I can't save money. I know plenty of people who have a tenner, want ciggies & think ok, cigs are £5, I have enough. They don't think Ohh I don't, cigs costing £11 would mean they don't have enough. If you need other things then ok, you might not be able to afford to buy it, but I don't. If i'd had £5 spare it'd be spent on things I wouldn't want/need or even realise i'd spent on. So what if I have 67p left? I have no need for it. What does it matter if I have £30 or £3 or 30p left over? If someone has £10 & the item is £9 they have enough, if the item is £11 they don't, if they need the item & other things & that would come to more than £10 they don't. I had more than enough to cover £4 on water. I wonder why some people here are on a Moneysaving site when they've obviously NEVER had to borrow money in their lifes! I'mnot even saying I had to borrow, I had more than enough to cover what I wanted!

I'm just glad a few of you haven't ever borrowed or bought anything & been left with a few pence in change! Unfortunately some of us buy what we want & £4 on water isn't exactly me going OTT, if it was squash i'm sure nobody'd say a word!

It's also strange how I personally worked in Asda on the tills & many people would only have £10 left till payday or whatever & spend it on their shopping, I really don't see what me having 67p left has to do with anything, I had the money to cover what I bought & don't need anything else. I shouldn't HAVE to think that Asda won't deliver.

I also don't see what the big issue is that I drink water, I don't drink anything else, don't smoke, never go out or see anybody, don't have a car, don't buy make up or clothes or ANYTHING. If I want to buy £4 of water when I have £42 to spend who cares? And really nobody NEEDS all of the things they buy, people want to!

I'm suprised that people think that me only having 67p is the problem & that I should've made sure to order half a month's worth in case Asda didn't deliver, it's Asda that's the issue here! And like I say not getting water'd mean it got frittered away on things without me realising, and maybe i'd've had £4 now, sure, but that wouldn't take away the problem with Asda or mean I could get a months worth of food now would it?

I can't cope with chlorinated water & not all is to drink either, though most is. £1 a week on water is a terrible thing to 'waste' money on! Much better to get takeaways/alcohol/coffee/ciggies etc

I could say people with kids shouldn't have had them because they cost & money could be better spent elsewhere! I don't criticise what others choose to buy & don't expect others to with what I buy. I pay for a service, I expect to recieve it. I thought this board was to flag up good & bad service & to vent. After 10+ hours on the phone to them & living alone so nobody else to talk to about it I needed a rant. I'm sorry some thought the issue of £1 a week in water was more important than terrible service & am glad they have such perfect lives & always have hundreds of pounds saved!

I'll leave certain people to get on with !!!!!!!! about the water

OP ring your bank tomorrow and ask them for an emergency overdraft (say £50). I'm sure if you explain what has happened and, of course, they can check all the recent transactions on your account, they could grant you a small sum until the problem resolves.

I don't have an account that does OD's but am hoping the money credits back to the account tonight! I'll cope I always do but it just all got to me & where someone else might talk to their OH, I have nobody to whinge too lol. I feel better now & will see what happens tomorrow, at least I know not to shop with Asda again & that this could happen so i'd keep some back next time

Tiger Liley, I don't think people are trying to offend you by saying you don't need to buy water, just suggesting ways to save money, that is the point of the website though, isn't it? To be honest, I am taking the side of people not wanting you to buy water- I mean what if there was an emergency and you needed to get somewhere/do something quickly? You can hardly buy a chocolate bar for 67p this day and age, let alone do anything in an emergency.

Fair enough, it is your money and you do what you want with it, but we are just concerned about you losing this obviously precious money on things like bottled water. Tap water isn't bad for you- or else the water company wouldn't put it through your tap would they?

In reply to your original post, I suggest you either look into an overdraft, or keep persisting with ASDA until they give you some immediate compensation. They are generally nice people if you talk to them nicely, but always remember to be polite over the phone or in person.

EDIT: Sorry, just read your latest post and realised you don't have the facilities for an overdraft, so please ignore that bit of information from me.

What a strange thing to say, if I couldn't afford it I wouldn't get it would I? I PAID for the shopping & didn't think there'd be a reason to need to worry about it not arriving, why wouldn't I be able to afford it? I can't save money due to medical reasons as i've stated, I order what I want, I don't smoke/drink/go out socialising/have holidays etc if I want water i'll buy it ty, plus is cost about £4, big deal! The point of the post is I shouldn't have needed to worry about it all not turning up!

I'm glad you'd be perfectly happy if you had no food or money good for you! Even if I didn't order some water (NO other drinks like coffee etc!) so what? What does the items I buy have to do with anything here? If it didn't include water would that be ok?

Tiger, your original post said you have "no food in the home" and "I have no money to buy food with". All I'm getting at is the £4 spent on the water would have been very useful to buy some food until Asda get their act together (not too likely from what I read in the vents). Emergencies happen to us all and even £4 can be very handy especially when the cupboard is bare. Quite frankly it wouldn't bother me if you did drink, smoke, have holidays, go down the bookies etc as long as you had a small emergency fund for the emergencies that will happen.
    It's someone else's fault.
