Just came here to post details of this fantastic freebie and see that it was posted a while ago.

There are now 10 stories available to download - each one is 30-50 minutes, making a total story time of over 5 and a half hours so far!

Don't be fooled by the titles - these are contemporary version of classic stories read by some great 'voices'.

I am in the process of downloading all 10 now to transfer to CDs for the car. My kids have only just managed to get through the first hearing of the fantastic Roald Dhal box set of stories from the Book People, so this will give them (and us) another great distraction for long car trips.

Thanks - I didn't know you could download them from here as well. Yesterday I put the first 10 stories on to CDs for the car. Only 2 stories fit on each CD, so need to now find myself a cheap CD wallet to store them in.

My 9 year old son was thrilled to hear "Mum's Dr Who" (as they call Tom Baker - showing my age now!) reading Aladdin. He certainly has a great voice for telling this story.

Just thought - it would make a nice pressie for the price of a few blank CDs and a pretty storage case. You would need to use one of those CD label printing kits to make them look nice too.
  • Just to add to this useful post.

Rockford's Rock Opera is a a unique two and a half hour adventure in sound for children and adults. AND it’s TOTALLY FREE to stream and download.

It's a story about animals, about extinction and the effect man is having on the planet. But it's a positive and hopeful story and and at the moment it can be listened to and downloaded for free at https://www.rockfordsrockopera.com.
The chapters are in MP3 format, and can be played on computers, iPods and all MP3 players. They can also be burnt onto audio CDs.

    My kids absolutely LOVE IT!!
