Looking for support with a PIP appeal. Anyone know if charities who specialise in PIP

I was turned down for PIP and now have 3 weeks left to put an appeal forward to the Tribunal. I called CAB who helped with the initial application but they aren’t currently taking on referrals due to being fully booked up and so I need some help preferably with a charity who specialise in PIP applications/appeals. Thanks

  • You don't say whether you have asked for a Mandatory Reconsideration. This is the first step before you can appeal to Tribunal.
Statistically the vast majority of decisions are unchanged at MR stage, so if that is the stage you are at, I would just go ahead with your request without help.
It is more important to get help at the Appeal stage.
There is help online on citizens advice website. Or do you have a local Law Centre or Welfare Rights service?

CAB would be best but they're busy and might not be able to help in time.

The next place to try would be a charity that deals with your condition.

Some areas have welfare rights departments in the council or social services. There also might be a DIAL or other disability advice group in your area.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • Mandatory Reconsideration stage has passed. I didn’t get my documents/fresh evidence to them in time
  • I have ADHD mate
  • Thanks for the help lads. I’ll try this Welfare Rights thing tomorrow

So you have the MR decision letter? You'll need this for the Tribunal request, without it your Tribunal will be refused.

Do you mean you didn't get the MR request in on time, or that you got the request in but couldn't send fresh evidence with it? Has a MR decision been made?

If you didn't get a request in and are out of time then the way forward is different.
