Business Car Insurance for Named Driver

Options
Looking for some advice please. My 21-year-old daughter is a named driver on my car insurance policy. She has recently started a casual job, delivering prescriptions for the local pharmacy, to the health centre in the next village, and prescribed medicines etc to housebound elderly patients in the GP practice area. She uses my car for about an hour every weekday in connection with this job.
I rang my insurer, Direct Line, to ask about this, and they say that they cannot cover her under my policy if she is driving in connection with a business that is not mine.
They did not offer an alternative arrangement, but just said that they will not renew my insurance automatically when the renewal date comes round (next September), as some of the information will have changed. As things stand, my daughter would not be covered if she had an accident while delivering things for the pharmacy.
Should I therefore take her off my policy and help her to try to find a suitable alternative eg her own policy, including business use? ( I am sure that this will be much more expensive)

Yes. Get her off your insurance if she's not covered!

By the way; Courier insurance is expensive.

Is courier insurance a separate category from "business" then?

Firstly, she should stop driving the car for her job in the first instance until suitable insurance has been sourced. Otherwise if she is involved in an accident the vehicle won't be covered for any repairs, and any third part claims the insurer will come to you as the policyholder for reimbursement for.

Courier insurance is just that - for couriers / delivery drivers, which it seems your daughter is.

There are different types of business insurance class 1 is when you use the vehicle as a part of your employers business - so this is what your daughter might want, however, it may exclude couriers, you would need to check individual policy wordings.

It's next to impossible to get business insurance as a named driver if you're not husband/wife (i.e. class two).

You'd need a specialist insurer for this unless she just gets her own policy in her name.
