Hi all, new here to the forums so im 29 years old, i've had a bit of a s*** past with credit being young and being thrown credit cards left right and centre.. yep i done myself
My current credit rating: 142
Now, i have managed to get a app on my phone which has my credit scoring, however i have no idea how to increase it i can't get any of the following
- Builder credit card
- credit card
- loans
- mobile contract
etc etc, i don't even have a current account, i tried to make one with nationwide a few days ago, i got a letter to say yep come in the store with your ID, but that was followed by a sorry we cannot open this account unfortunately
So i'm at a bit of a loose end, unsure how i can increase my credit rating when no one is giving me the chance too, i have a well paid job also and my finances are now in check
How do i get this up?! any suggestions guys and girls?

Many on here will tell you to ignore the score as it's meaning less - and that's correct.
For a start you need to be on the Electoral Roll to increase your chances of getting offered/accepted for credit.
So you currently have no credit accounts - no contract phones, broadband etc?0 -

Can i ask a question, why the fuss over a number only you see ?
As you may have gathered your score is of no use to anyone, only you can see it, lenders use your credit history to determine if to lend to you.
What exactly is on your credit history ?
You say you work so where do you get your wages paid into ?
What other banks have you tried ? When you apply dont ask for an overdraft.0 -
Have a look at all three of your files.
What exactly appears on them?0 -

Sounds like you may have a CIFAS marker against you. Before you apply for anything further, pay the £10 for the subject access request from CIFAS and wait until you hear back from them.
