A little spending for me today: I still had £14 left over from last year, and I've spent most of that. As I used 'last year's' money in effect, does today count as an NSD or not? I haven't touched any of my weekly grocery money or personal spending money yet.
Anyway, got some good bargains today. 2 x 2 litres of milk in Farmfoods - £1.50 for the 2. In Aldi I got 6 mince pies for 59p (no, we didn't need them, but they're cakes and they'll keep!); 6 kiwi fruit for 39p (one of their Super 6 this week); 2 lots of reduced cold meats for £1.40; bake at home baguettes for 39p; big bag of jumbo peanuts for 69p; 6 yogurts 99p; pack of mushrooms for 79p.
I also got a tin for my sealed pot challenge in Poundland. And a pack of 6 loo rolls in the 99p shop, plus 3 balls of wool in a pack with knitting needles to make a scarf - 99p. In Primani I got 2 pairs of thick fair-isle bedsocks at £1 each. One is for me (guess that comes out of my clothing budget!) and one for sis in law for Christmas.
Hubby spent a couple of pounds too, on an aerial lead for the bedroom (97p), a cup of tea and bacon sandwich because we were out at lunchtime (£3.60), and the car park (80p).
I've still got change from the £15 I had left over from last year, so technically I suppose I haven't eaten into my 2010 budget yet. Hoping for another NSD tomorrow as I can't think of anything foodwise we are desperate for.
We've got snow here today but not too bad, we managed to get out today. If it's not too bad tomorrow and we can get to the main road, we're going out to a friend's and hopefully avoiding any shops.
Keep warm and safe everyone...Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Off now to check recipes on the front page as I have found some Sausagemeat in the Freezer that didn't get used at Xmas. Don't want to use it in sausage rolls, fancy trying it in a Sausage plait type thing. ...
The Apple Braid recipe on front page works well with savoury fillings, I've done cheese and onion, sausagement and stuffing as well as the apple.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Going well so far, only extra I've had to buy this week is eggs as I forgot them in my main shop
Was hoping someone could help me - I was going to make a beery bacon pie for dinner tonight, went to get my ingredients out only to find my darling fiance has drunk my beer  so now I have to think of something else to make for this evening.
I was thinking of using the puff pastry and the bacon for some kind of greggs style pasty with cheese - I do have normal cheddar cheese but I also have some camembert from christmas thats needs using (not even opened and goes off in three days)
Do you think camembert would work with the bacon rather than plain cheddar?nov grocery challenge, £.227.69/300, 9/25 nsd: , 7 Cmo, 10 egm.
Me, 10 yo dd, and the dog. all food and drinks, in and out, plus household shopping.0 -
hope all goes ok for you tomorrow kitty.
Thank you, it's only a minor op but with general anaesthetic you always worry.
Managed to get to collect DS from respite, called for petrol and milk and an emergency dairy milk so another £1.70 to add to GC budget.
I'm going to take snacks with me for tomorrow. Eating at the hospital always costs a fortune and with a Starbuck's next door it's very easy to spend a lot when we're there. Might leave my purse at home and just take a couple of pounds....... essential for 'emergencies' (like this morning) you understand
Hope everyone is doing well with their budgets. Take care, K:xmastree:Merry Christmas0 -
I forgot the Mr Men bubble baths I bought yesterday 4 x39p. Just going to update signature.
Good luck with the op tomorrow Kitty.0 -

Sorry I am late this month Helen but please could you put me down for £280 for Jan? (My month runs till 28th)
We have been away in Germany visiting DD1 and came back too late to shop on Saturday so did my first shop of the month on Sunday. I used my year's worth of nectar points so my bill came to just over £77 instead of £114! I love doing that! Now I have plenty of meat and fish and frozen veg and don't need any household stuff till the end of the month.
I will need some more toiletries but am hoping to use my Boots' points for those when I can get to the shops. It has snowed a lot here today and work was closed so I have been busy baking and catching up here.
On Sunday evening I made two batches of soup (Tomato and orange, and Broccoli and Stilton - we had a piece leftover from Christmas which I popped in the freezer before I went away) and also did a batch of granary rolls. Today I did leek and potato soup with some half price leeks bought on Sunday. I have also been cooking a big lamb casserole for tonight in the slow cooker, half of which will be frozen and I am also making a fish pie since I can make a double quantity of mash today and save fuel cooking it. I always try to cook at least one meal ahead so that if I feel too tired when I get in from work I have got something ready to fall back on. (DH doesn't cook!)
It looks like work will be closed tomorrow as well and since I can't get off my drive and our lane has not been cleared - the 'main' road in the village has had a snow plough but no grit - I might be walking to the next village tomorrow (a mile and a half away) to get a few supplies from Londis! At least it will help me with my January weight loss plan - food too yummy in Germany and clothes feel tight!
Sorry to hear about your DH Helen - hope all is well.

Just a quick update, £2.73 spend today. Typical girls wanted Jack spud with beans, I had none in. Got a couple of bargains though. Bag of Jacket potatoes half price £1 and box oats-so-simple half price £1.09. So not bad.
