House now sold and we’ve nowhere to go?

I’ve posted before about the landlord putting our house up for sale. Long story short he put it up end of August, it’s now sold and we’re just waiting on the paper work. He is good in that he made it a term that the new owner couldn’t put us out until we have something. We still haven’t got anything. The estate agent selling our house happens to be the most popular letting agent in the area and he’s been helping us out but everything just falls through.

Twice we’ve had a house and twice it’s fallen through. We phoned our previous landlords looking references, one just happened to be putting his own house up for rent, he said he’d love us in it as we’re such good tenants. We accepted, he gave us a few days until he got a contract drew up and said he’d be in touch, he never was we phoned him for several days but he avoided us, he then came clean and said he’d let it to his friend and was all apologetic.

Second one the estate agent got us. A new build in a well off area, he got it for us at a good price, he said it was ours if we wanted as we’ve been such good tenants in the past we get first refusal. Of course we accepted. He put all forward to the landlord whos gone awol. Can’t be contacted at all. They’ve just today removed the listing.

We really do not know what to do. We’ve been to a dozen or more viewings getting nowhere even with the help of the agent who sings our praises.

Persevere and don’t get disheartened. Perfectly normal for landlords to ignore contact or for agents to fail to call you back in my experience. The industry is full of incompetent idiots who make you wonder why they’re letting out if they can’t be bothered to answer a telephone call. You’re not alone.

Its a nightmare this. We're really no further forward now than we were 2 months ago when we started looking.

That's not the story you came out with previously. According to previous posts you were prevaricating because the internet speed wasn't up to your teenagers' netflix requirements. And while you were messing about thinking about that, the landlord seemingly got fed up of waiting and offered it to someone else.

Do you mean that the new owner of the property has entered into a legally binding agreement that you can stay where you are until you have found another property to rent?

I don’t know. I’m just going by what our current said, he said he made that term, the other party agreed. We know the other party anyway.
  • Selling the place does not end your tenancy nor require you to leave. Even if new owner is outside with huge removal van, 3 bonkers kids & screaming hubbie.

You do not have to leave without a court order then bailiffs.

HAVE YOU BEEN SERVED WITH ANY NOTICES OR COURT PAPERS please?

The OP is in Northern Ireland something it would be useful to put in his OP or better still he could have updated one of his existing threads on this topic.

We accepted it as soon as offered. Yes got cold feet due to the location but we had nothing else going so had to make do. Didn’t matter anyway as he gave it to his mate which I think was a dirty action
