Default Free Soups but not homemade ones

Hi People,

Just wondering if anyone knows off the top of their heads of some free cup a soups or such like? I'm thinking about when I go back to work, I'd like to have a cup a soup at lunch time. I know I could make my own, but they aren't as tasty from past experience, and I can't be bothered!

I always do Green as I'm a veggie, so any free or very low sin cup a soup or tins that I can microwave would be fab.

Thanks in advance

Shellie, I think a new thread would be a great idea. It sort of helps to draw a line for anyone that needs to and I think huge threads can sometimes be daunting for newbies.

Frogga, I don't know any soups that are free or low syn but things like pasta, noodles or savoury rice make an easy luchtime snack and have syn free varieties. I'd really suggest persevering with making your own if you want soup.

watchmo, sorry but I don't know the answer to your countdown question. The cynic in me says that SW would want to hang on to your money somehow but maybe they'd transfer it to someone in your family. Why not text your consultant to find out?

I've not been particularly SW friendly over Christmas but as I've had very few alcohol syns, the few chocs and white bread I've had have probably balanced it out on the syns. To be honest I haven't eaten much at all. If anything I feel thinner. I can't wait for my appetitie to come back so I can enjoy my food.

HTF can you not make a soup more tasty than a pot of synthetic chemicals. the fact that you cant be bothered might explain why you need the diet in the first place The calories you burn making it might just be the tipping point or at least be a step in the right direction.
I like to give people as many choices as possible to do what I want them to. (Milton H Erickson I think)

Well goodness me how very rude. I was simply asking a question about which shop bought soups were free in order to save a little time and effort. I don't think I deserve to be slated as lazy for that? FYI I work full time, have two children, a husband, 4 dogs and a household to run, so I can assure you I am not lazy. And as I have managed to lose 7 stone on a SW diet I do not need to be pointed in the right direction thanks very much.

Thanks Maman for the tips about noodles, and rice etc. I do chose those two quite alot but I just fancied some soups? I've had ago a few times but they always taste watery?

Hi there

Mugshots used to be free food on SW - it's been a while since I followed the plan so no doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Some canned soups can also be counted as a HE-B but again, someone else will have to provide the details.

LL
Hmm, I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

Frogga - I don't know of any cup type soups that are free or low in syn but I do know that you can get the batchelors noodle pots. I think the chicken curry noodle pot is free. Its come in a round pot and I found them in $ainsburys. There also batchelors deli boxes and I think these average 1.5 syn each? I know that there was a ainsley harriot cup of soup featured in the new products pages in a recent slimming world mag but the syn value quoted was wrong and it was actually much higher than quoted.

Ahh yes - some canned soups are classed as a HEB but some of them its only half a tin that you can have as your HEB (grrr) I think the only complete tin of soup you can have as a HEB is/was the weight watchers country vegetable one? (might be wrong there on the name - its the one that has the butterbeans in ). I think a few things have changed with the HEB options etc - details will be in the new books/online/in the new food directories. Damn that means I will have to spend some money when I go back to class

Thanks Flat Eric and Lois, I completely forgot I could have soup as a HEB!
I gave my book to a friend to borrow ages ago and I haven't had them back, I should have another read to remind myself but she is going through a tough time so I realy don't want to bother her with that!

I've not tried the mug shots, I was looking at them once in Sainsburys but none of them were veggie so I couldn't get one, maybe I should have a go.

Many thanks for the ideas xx

the tomato and herb mugshot is free and I think the sweet n sour is too. I have the t&h one most lunchtimes at work and find them very filling. I make it in a tub the night before then reheat in micro when ready.

There are plenty of vegetarian mugshots, sweet and sour, tomato and herb and i 'think' the chicken one is also veggie as it contains no physical chicken just flavourings. Bit like Walkers chicken crisps are suitable for veggies
If you say you only do green days then you can have 2 Hebs and 2 heas.
For your soups if you are wanting a full can(ish) then you can have 400g of the following using one heb, baxters vegetarian country garden, co-op simply value veg, heinz winter veg broth, waitrose tomato and herb and morrisons fresh to go tomato and basil.
Slim a soup sachets are 3 syns each or vending machine kenco veg soup is 1 syn - depending on what facilities your work place has you may have one at your convenience.

Default Newbie alert!!!!

Hi all I am a new member to MSE but have tried slimming world previously (three whole weeks)

I joined a group but felt in the way as it was very cliquey and the consultant wasn't approachable. Anyway here I am going it alone (well I have you guys for company lol)

I weighed myself today and am ashamed to say I weigh in at 20st! ekk!!! I am turning 30 Dec next year and aim to get that number much lower....

I have prepared some portions of soup and cleared a LOT of junk food out (some hidden in a separate cupboard for LO's treats)

I will head out to the shops tomorrow and stock up on some F&V and bits.

Glad to 'meet' you all and looking forward to joining you all on your journeys.

Here's to a slimmer 2013
OD £500
Bank of mum an dad £800

Hello everyone, it's been a while .... I see Maman, EvilSquid, one or two other names I recognise. I did go to another class for a while, and changed my target as I think I was aiming too low for me, I just wanted to get into single figures. Then the class changed venue; then changed venue again. Each time I had to drive further through the local large town just at rush hour .... so I stopped going and have tried to keep myself more or less on plan. And I've done it! I went up a bit at Christmas, and this is my birthday week (but I'm snowed in so cannot get out and do anything truly wicked) but I had a weigh this morning and at 10 st 3 lb I am quite happy. Be happier if it was dead on 10 st but that's doable. Sooooo how's everyone else?

Wuvvies, when I used to use the website (and a more patronising and less navigable website I have yet to find) I think there was a place to click to "add this week's weight". It doesn't matter much about being the exact day and if you miss a week you just put it in the next week. It's "your" page, not theirs. Hope this helps.
That's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever

thank you Slimming World!
