Simple sat nav recommendations please

Can anyone help me please? I'm looking for a sat nav for my techno phobic old Mum, to improve her confidence when in the car alone, as she's getting a bit forgetful. She'll need something simple to use (possibly one that she can say where she wants to go, rather than fumbling with typing) that will speak directions to her. Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks!

My personal experience of voice recognition is that it is not worth the aggravation - there are simply too many road names that include uncommon words/names.

If she can't cope with typing a postcode into the satnav, she probably shouldn't be driving!

(Please don't take that as an insult to your Mum - I don't actually know anything about her other than what you wrote).

Either a Garmin or a TomTom should be fine for her - they each have their quirks but if she has used neither before then either will probably do.

Ludicrously expensive options. I paid a tenner for my Lumia mobile phone, which contains all that you need.

I wouldn't depend on the voice commands, but they are possible.

You can pick up a Lumia 435 for around £20.

Nope, Here maps were bought out by BMW, Audi and Daimler in 2015 and is now the bedrock for their automated cars and the mobile version is called 'Here WeGo'.. So the Maps are definitely up to date.

My mother is nearly 80 and uses a Garmin with a 5" screen. She does still have all her marbles though.
