Water butt removal

I am removing a water butt due to dam forming on wall behind. The pipe has a rain water divert . So do I just saw the pipe or the water will still come through the tube won't it?. Is it a case of just replacing the down pipe and removing rainwater diverter?

You can remove the diverter or cut the pipe and plug the end you have cut.

You could replace with a downpipe extender to reconnect the 2 pieces.

What about just moving the butt away from the wall.

If you don't care what it looks like just tie the pipe up against the downpipe(free option)

Remove the water diverter from the downpipe and replace with a join:
