Cross Country Buy Advance Tickets on the Day

Cross Country will now let you buy advance tickets with seat reservations up to 15 minutes before the train's departure which effectively makes them a walk on fare. It has to be done on line or via their app and cannot be bought at a ticket office. You don't need a printer as it can be sent to a phone.
I noticed a poster at the station today and have found the link to their site here

This has been available for quite a few months now and on the face of it is a great idea; not so if you've got a full price ticket, and have found an unreserved seat to settle down in only to be turfed out by someone who's just reserved the same seat.
You should be OK but if there's someone in your seat remember they might not be aware it's become reserved, so might be a bit surprised to be asked to move.Long-haul Supporters DFW 120

I believe the reserved sign above the seat says something like 'may be reserved' or words to that effect - so it shouldn't come entirely out of the blue0
