Back to work benefits....

I have found *really* conflicting information online, vs what my LP advisor said.........

She told me:
  • 4 weeks LHA run on
  • 4 weeks council tax run on
  • £40 p/w back to work credit

Online i have found that the 2 first points seem to be true, but not the 3rd: (taken from DWP website)

"Return to Work Credit
Return to Work Credit is a tax-free payment of £40 per week for people that have, or have had, a health condition or disability.

You might not qualify if you claim either of the following benefits in the five weeks before starting work:
Jobseeker's Allowance
Income Support as a lone parent
"

But that a job grant of £250 *is* available?

Can anyone advise? Many thanks.

ETA Coming off IS as a lone parent!

Inwork credit is available to lone parents of £40 per week if you have been on benefits for 52 weeks

I started work in January after being on IS for just over 2 years (lone parent).

I work about 18 hrs a week and receive "In work credit" and also received the £250 back to work job grant.
I also receive CTC, WTC and CB
The local authority are still trying to calulate my entitlement to coucil tax benefit (dispite me sending them 3 monthy wage slips !!)

This was in Jan though, the rules may have changed?

How long have you been on JSA/IS?

No, she specifically told me the £40 IWC replaced the £250JG, I could not have both.

    2 years.

She has misinformed you. I have knowledge of someone recently being paid the £250 grant and she has received confirmation also that she is eligible for the £40 p/w in work credit for one year as long as the employment is continuous.

    £2012 in 2012 = £34.44
