Laying flooring, new french doors and fitting a hearth

Hi all,

We're getting quotes to have engineered wood flooring put down (sourced ourselves though if you have any good budget recommendations!) as well as replacing a window with French doors and putting in a hearth where there's currently just messy concrete!

Have received a quote for £3200 broken down as follows:
Supply and fit of French doors - £1500
Supply and fit of stone hearth - £250
Fitting only of flooring (50m2) and skirting boards - £1450

Does that seem right? I think it's the fitting of the floor and skirting that seems a bit high but that's not really based on anything!

Based in Bristol.

Thanks in advance for any insight :)

  • How many rooms is that 50sqm & skirting covering? The quote looks quite high to me.

My joiners fitted and skirted a 25sqmt room in a day costing £320 labour for them both although we are in the north (but an expensive ish bit). Looking at yours anything over £1k is looking expensive (unless it is 3/4 rooms in which case the flooring and skirting will take considerably longer due to the cutting).
    Thinking critically since 1996....
