Having seen this thread before without taking any notice of it I have read through it all over the last week and a bit. I had started to sell stuff on there that I got cheap but I am yet to make a profit from that but there is still time.

This has motivated me to have a look for old stuff that I can sell and so far I have sold some sun cream that I got free from work, a belly button ring that I bought for an ex years ago but was never used. Some old clothes, mens t-shirts don't seem to sell all that well I have found.

I also have bids for some unopened contact lens solution which has quite a few watchers a Homer Simpson bottle opener and a Trilby hat.

This is a great thread which I am glad that I came back to after ignoring it for a while.

Think I will try this Ebay malarkey again after reading this thread. Astounding what some people will buy :rotfl:

  • I have sold part of a perfume bottle! Naughty Alice by Vivienne Westwood comes with a free charm bracelet. They go for £10-15 on eBay, I've had good results from bidding and fixed price.

I broke an old computer down to component parts and was able to sell each and every one of them on Ebay, some for fairly decent amounts.

This sold for the same as we'd paid for it. Someone else must have had the printer.

I sold a knitted coat for £160. Had bought it for a fiver from a charity shop and worn it for a couple of years before deciding it really was far too long and big for me. Put it up for the fiver I'd paid for it and was stunned at the bidding war I started!

EBay is a funny business though. Some things I think are rather good and in excellent nick struggle to sell for a few quid. Other bits race off. Anyone had success selling Lego or brio?

  • A colleague at work sold an old toilet he'd just removed from his house. He only listed it as a joke, £5, collection only, but it sold, and the buyer did a 100 mile round trip to collect it. Turned out that one of the buyers kids had accidentally knocked a potted plant off the window sill onto the cistern, breaking the lid. A new lid was no longer available and he couldn't afford to replace the whole toilet, so he bought it just for the lid!
  • In the last 60 days have made £4000+ selling stuff out of the loft. Even broken stuff listed as "for repairs or spares" that I nearly threw out, old toys go well, 22 magazines from the seventies made £120. Old cameras, one went to Thailand for £120, old lenses - one went to China for £150. Best advice - do your research, ask experts what the item is, an old lead body model railway loco from 1949 not working made £59. Several experts have helped me to identify items and correctly describe them. Important to include good pictures and info about your item, happy selling!

Jahloon...that's a fantastic result, well done you. I was feeling pleased with the £1k I've made in the last couple of months but I have catch-up to do. Takes quite a lot of time doesn't it. Well done again!

  • We went to a car boot sale and informed the kids that they could spend £3 on any thing but it had to be sold on Ebay to make a profit to win. My other half bought a set of 4 decorative plates for £1 and we sold them for £20, my daughter bought a glass bottle and liked it so much she kept it :T
