    Making cards - Ideas (part 5) 29th Sep 10 at 11:17 PM
Welcome to the Card Craft thread where there are many members who are new to card making as well as the more experienced members who love helping others out on their path to making cards. If you are new to this craft please do post and somebody will be along with some advice for you

Please note this thread is now a continuation of an original thread on making cards - Part 1, the second thread - Part 2 , the third thread - Part 3, and the fourth thread here - Part 4, it may be a good idea to look these first for advice or ideas.

TomsMom - my neighbour at our other house had this problem with her dachshound (sp?) she took serious advice, I'll see if I can find out how they resolved it.

I ended up carrying her to the beach yesterday (good job she's not a Great Dane ) and once she was there she was more than happy to run around for about 15 minutes then she walked back home, no sitting down. It's just when we start out. If she knows we're on the way home something clicks in! I'd love to take her to classes, socialising, training, whatever, but there's just nothing around here, nearest one is about an hour away and she'd be sick on the way .

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY-OP Your card should be with you tomorrow, forgot to pick it up when I went out yesterday, so sorry .

Nothing special planned for today, it's dull and raining, maybe I can get upstairs to make a card!

    Have a nice day all.

    Newbie to card making!
Hi ladies! Hope your all well.

I have decided to start cardmaking! my mum and my granny are very into it and id love to be as creative as they are! I was just wondering where do you buy all your supplies..cards & envelopes, embellishments, paper etc and what sites there are to use for inspiration, templates, etc? I am going at lunch to buy some mags for freebies!! Any advice would be great! I've no idea where to start there is so much out there, i lack creativeness and im dying to get stuck in!! Hopefully going to Ikea to get myself a table, that would be a good start!! Im going to use our spare room as my "craft" room!! so exciting lol

Look forward to being a part of this thread!
    xx

    Morning ladies!

Congrats Melissa - my friend with 4 says you don't really notice the extra once you get past 3!

    Happy Birthday Mary

Lucky you Craftygranny - I still have a hankering for one of these!

I need to get on and make some wedding invitation samples for a colleague this morning - but it's so wet and miserable here today I'm finding it hard to get motivated!

Hi Curly - for inspiration, you can start by checking out our blogs. Click on our names in the post and click visit homepage.
Magazines are good to get started, especially the ones that have cardmaking kits in them. I'm sure if your mum and gran are into cardmaking, you may be able to 'borrow' a few bits!
Alot of us go to local craft shops or hobbycraft type places.
People also post links to freebie digis every now and then which are worth checking out.
We are a friendly bunch here, so feel free to ask any questions.

Oh forget to mention. Mr Ts have some A5 plastic clipboards - a pack of 2 for 50p! Thought they'd be great decorated on a fridge to hold shopping lists - they are quite light so should work with a couple of magnets on the back.

    Hurrah for the postie!

Still no sign of the fabled madaboutcards order (Bah!) but got a cute stamp from Ebay and my latest order from Little Claire Designs This included my first purchase of 3D gloss, so I'm going to play with that tonight and would be grateful for any tips.

Also, the stamp from Ebay is an unmounted one, like those you would see on a wooden stamp block. I didn't really think about this when I bought it Can it be used with an acrylic block? Any advice appreciated.

I'm off to Hobbycraft now - if I haven't posted by 6pm send a search party

I brought some glossy accents the other day and i have found it really easy to use. There is instructions on the bottle, which i found useful.

I use all my unmounted stamps with my acrylic blocks, if they don't cling by their self you can buy some stuff called Kling On (i think) But i just use double sided tape or foam squares. HTH

Kelly - to do the linky thing you need to use a word of your choice in your message, e.g. here. Then highlight that word. Then click on the blue world with chain link icon which is underneath the white smiley at the top of the message reply box. A box will open up for you to put a link in. Highlight the URL of the website you want to link to then paste it into the box that opened up. You will have to make sure that you delete the http:// that was originally in the box, if there are two the link wont work. Hope you can understand.

Ooops, sorry Curly07 - I forgot to welcome you. I don't have any craft shops near me, I have to save it up for when I do go on a shopping day (shops are about 1.5 hours drive away) but still can't get to a Hobbycraft or The Range. Otherwise I shop online.

I would recommend buying Let's make cards magazine It is £7.99 but you get a whole kit to make so many cards. Here

Dunelm and The Range also sell craft things, if there is one near you here and here
