Washing machine repair or throw

I've been Money Tipped!
in In my home (includes DIY) MoneySaving
I have a 13 year old Zanussi washer/dryer. It has these faults
1) Doesn't dry - not a real problem because we have a drier
2) Leaks
3) Doesn't always drain.

Any ideas about what is best repair or replacement?

    Well at least number 2 takes care of number 3.

    Unless you can diagnose, get the parts, and repair it yourself - it will most likely be more economical to buy a new washer,

    Sadly it can both leak a bit and not drain properly at the same time

    Get rid of it and buy a washing machine. You've had a good run from a washer/dryer.

    Check the filter and drain pipe. If its blocked the pump could be forcing the leak.

    It's the labour that costs, not necessarily the spare parts. When I made the fatal error of putting an underwired bra into the wash, with the inevitable consequences, we were quoted over £100 to remove it as it would mean removing the heater element to get at the wire. Our washer was over 10 years old at the time, so we didn't think it was worth paying that sort of money. However, OH found a teach-in on Utube on how to remove a bra wire - unbelievably the chap was using our exact model of Bosch washing machine for the demonstration! Out came the tool kit, out came the heater element - and bra wire - and the washer is still going strong more than 2 years later.

    That said, we're talking water and electrics here, and my OH is a retired RAF aircraft electrician, so perhaps this shouldn't be attempted by anyone without the skills.

    13 year old washer/dryer with 3 faults? Bin it.
