Have you tried this company (can't recommend them, but they came up on a google search)

Our local motability shop also do insurance, but I don't know if that is the same everywhere.

Thinking about it, my friend has mobility scooter insurance - I'll ask her and get back to you x

Hi Lavender Girl - I have spoken to two people I know with mobility scooters and they both said that they started out with specialist insurance, but they have since added the cover to their contents policy - legal protection in case they accidentally run someone over, plus accidental damage.

The RAC don't seem to have anything about mobility insurance on their website but the AA have a disabled travellers guide which might be worth a look:

  • Thank you to everyone who has replied to my question, I have really appreciated it. After much research with all your advice my Gran has been able to add her mobility scooter to her home insurance which has saved a lot of money!

We are now looking into the break down cover for her with the various replies I have had.

Many many thanks for your help!

I don't currently have insurance though I did when I first had my electric chair (now got scooter as I am able to walk a little distance). I was insured with fish too who the supplier of my chair recommended. I am looking into buying insurance again so this thread prompted me into action - thanks
    Loving freebies
