Union Membership

Options
A lot of people don't know about the benefits of union membership, and indeed don't think they can join one as there's no recognition in their workplace.

Anyone can join ANY union. Most unions have specific areas of employment that they specialise in, but any one of them will cover your back if you find yourself in an unfortunate position at work.

The above link lets you search to see if a union is recognised by your employer or which union is best suited to your sector of employment.

Your employer does NOT need to know you are a member.

Fees start very low and usually are determined by your salary, and some of them even pay benefits if you find yourself unemployed as well as a load of non work related benefits, saving money on a variety of services.

Membership is a small price to pay (as little as £5 per month) for the piece of mind that advice is readily available if you find yourself in a sticky situation, no chasing the CAB or ACAS for advice!!

Well done Euan yes the site you write about is brilliant. :T

As a trade union, industrial relations rep' within the transport industry I have found so much valuable information on the site.

Keep the home page as a favourite on your PC for future reference.

If you are going through a redundancy or displacement - just as 100 are in the company where I work - GOOD LUCK.

If you are not in a trade union then as Euan suggests do signup for one - we can at least do your shouting at your managers for you!
