    Hi all. Hoping for some advice.

    I took out a CPP plan in 2004, so before the 2005 date that the redress scheme goes back to. For pre-2005 claims, the advice is to contact your bank to submit a complaint, but I can't recall which bank sold me CPP. I recall it being an opt-out, so was forced on me, but I don't have documentation going back that far.

    I thought possibly via Barclaycard or Barclays. Any advice from people who were in a similar situation? I.e. Calling banks to ask if they originally sold me CPP? I've already inquired with every bank I have an account with about ppi using their online forms, but that wouldn't highlight CPP.

    (My last ditch attempt would be to use a claims company who may know of a way to process this. So any recommendations over which to use would be appreciated.) Thanks

    I wouldn't be approaching any claim company though; they do not have have specialist investigatory powers and they'll charge a huge proportion of any redress you might win.

    HSBC are currently dealing with CPP historic liabilities (ChargeGuard was their most popular policy sold in the 1990s to mid 2000s).


    They were able to find it from a search I asked for from 1997; but, the obvious answer would be whoever your current account was with at the time.
    Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.

    Okay, here's a question that someone might be able to help me with.

    I relocated from the UK in 2015 and now live an work in the US. Going through some old papers over the weekend I found copies of my initial claim paperwork for compensation for CPP - the standard letters etc that everyone got who might have a claim.

    We still own our property in the UK, currently rented out with mail being forwarded to us here and the phone numbers etc are still active and connected to me, I haven't heard anything back from them since.

    I've tried to go to the website on the letters - it's dead, there's no answer to the numbers I have for CPP or they are shut down... not that I'm expecting a massive windfall at all, if I'm owed something I would still like to be able to have it. Does anyone have any thoughts or pointers?

    I did claim. I submitted my claim on Feb 24, 2014 which was well before the deadline to apply of Aug 30, 2014. After I submitted my claim I heard nothing else.

    People who complained they had had no acknowledgement of their application only just after the deadline in August 2014 were denied a refund, so in November 2017 you have no chance of advancing this I'm afraid. The FCA are the regulator, they don't deal with individual complaints.
