Manchester - M.E.N Arena parking help

hi, can any local yocals out there help me out. I am going to see George Michael tomorrow at the M.E.N Arena and gather that the attached car park is expensive and hard to get out of at the end of the concert. Is there anywhere near to park cheaper or even better for free!! Thanks in advance

Well you probably won't find any free parking within a couple of miles! But there are some private car parks along Chapel Street which are sometimes open for concerts - they normally charge between £3 and £5. They're under the railway arches so a bit spooky, but they are safe and easier to use than the one at the Arena.

If anyone else is going to see George Michael at MEN Arena we ended up parking near a sikh temple 5 minutes walk from the arena. This was near all the secure car parks that were charging £6 and we had the benefit of paying nowt and getting out straight away!! OH even left his mobile phone on display for about half an hour (before realising) and car was fine.
