BT broadband Haggling thread

I think I might sign up with Plusnet today anyway and see what BT come back with tomorrow. TopCashback is offering £95 (ends tomorrow) for Plusnet's Unlimited Fibre Extra package. I suppose I could sign up for that and then cancel it if BT offers a better deal. I might be wrong, but apparently if an AOT is filed with BT, that seems to prompt a reaction to offer the best deals as a last resort to entice you to stay.
I was looking at Plusnet's Unlimited Fibre package but I'm not sure if the 1Mb-2Mb upload speeds will suffice for my needs (regular use of Skype, backing up large files to the cloud, etc).0 -
I am getting very frustrated with bt. They are offering new customers 26.99 for unlimited incl line rental. I was away last month when my contract ended and the rate now applied to my account is 40.99. I rang this morning and was told absolute best deal is 38.99. Yet other people here are being offered considerably better price. Is it true that I may get better if I phone again another day and just get another customer rep?0

I had the same experience last year. I rang a few times and was offered a different deal each time. Then a few days before the end of my contract, I rang in and was offered a pretty good deal to stay.0 -
I got offered £26.99 for infinity 1 unlimited and line rental is free , that was about 3 months ago, had to agree to a 24 month contract, maybe ask for a longer contract if you are happy with BT0

Think I will jump ship as well, currently stung for £54 p/m line rental FTTC 2 and phone whereas new customers in for £45.
Clincher for me is last year they gave me caller display free, wow shows up on monthly bill paid for till next month. It stopped working, when enquired they honoured for 12 months free as their mistake. Next day I had an email stating it was a 12 month contract, so immediately cancelled.
Thinking Aquis0 -
Just wanted to add my BT Retention offer. Contract ends 19th June.
I have just resigned for Unlimited Infinity 1 for £2.50 a month plus line rental for a 24 month contract.
I plan to pay the line rental in advance so the package cost comes to £19.59 per month.0 -
My BT Infinity 1 Unlimited is almost up (within the month) and I am thinking of leaving but I have 4 SIMs that are contracted until December so this would add £20 to these if I leave. If I recontract with them and they increase the price can I terminate the BB/landline without penalty? Once the SIMs are out of contract I intend going back to EE as they are a million times better (even tho BT own them)0

If BT does increase prices within your contract then the Ofcom rules allow you to leave without penalty - including a pro rata refund of ALR.
A member from the BT complaints team called me on Friday evening. He can honour the deal of £26.49 per month (including line rental) or £7.50 per month (excluding line rental), with £42 credit for the difference between his deal and the one I was offered on 22/5 but was no longer available. The line rental upfront is £208.80.
Or, I can stick with Plusnet. I signed up for their Unlimited Fibre Extra package at £12 per month (excluding line rental) or £31 per month (including line rental). Then there's the TopCashback cashback of £95.95 on top. The line rental upfront is £195. I'm still within the cooling-off period, so I still have a few days to cancel.
Decisions, decisions...0 -
A good decision to make though. You need to consider how happy you've been with the service from BT, to the unknown of switching to Plusnet, but also the hassle you've had getting a new deal with BT. Will Plusnet be as hard work next year when you look to renew, or is it worth just sticking with BT now that you've got your deal, and just try Plusnet again next year?0

Contract ends or price increase then you are in a position to negotiate .
Phone the ISP and tell them you are considering leaving within 30 days .
They will make you an offer and if its not good enough you say no i will think on my options .At this point you have not actually cancelled . Now wait a week or two for a better offer .0
