I can't believe I'm here! It seemed so insurmountable at one point. It's been a combination of saving, a promotion and an unexpected windfall to pay the remainder. I will never be in debt again I know that much. Credit to this forum for being an amazing inspiration.

Pearl of wisdom - Stepchange literally gave me a light at the end of the tunnel and gave me my life back.

And have multiple bank accounts for different reasons and check your balances all the time - ignoring this helped me get into such a mess in the first place!

Now to enjoy the rest of my life as a saver not a spender!

Feels so strange as spent half my life and my whole aldult life oweing money to someone.

Pearl of wisdom: What helped me was noting down and keeping track of every single penny. I didn't really notice where my money was going until I saw in black and white how much debt I was in, and tracking it really helped me reign in any unnecessary spending.

Now I can start saving the deposit for my own flat :j
