Hi,

I want to buy now two tickets, for me and my wife, to go to Rome during Easter. My wife has surgery operation planned for a not pre-existing condition which must happen surely before the journey, but we don't know exactly when.
My fear is that the recovery time could overlap with the date of the journey.
Is there any way to be covered in case my wife is forced to stay in hospital? Is this considered a pre-existed condition for a travel insurance? Although it's surely something already diagnosed.
Can I maybe just cover myself for the missed flight? I should show up on purpose after the flight takes of, which is doable, but I guess I will loose my wife ticket.
I am sure that once I had a similar case and I had the money back, but the condition was not diagnosed at the time of the tickets bought.
Any suggestion?

It IS a pre-existing condition however you look at it

You need to find an insurance company that will accept it and provide cover - whether there is one, pass.

Missing a flight deliberately will get you nowhere and has a whiff of fraud about it.
