Thrifty steaming ahead on all fronts.

Speky well done on resisting coffee.

Calling14 The Martian (think the author is Andy Weir) is very good, surprisingly 'homely', comforting, uplifting and keeps you in suspense right to the end.

Poppy3008 Good progress. Do a dance for having the foresight to buy the extra mince and plan ahead. Cats are a law unto themselves.

Dizzibind Good luck with the shopping. Try not to stress over the to do list - sometimes is helps to write down what you have done, just to remind yourself at the end of the day.

Planning ahead remember to celebrate your victories.

Siebrie glad you enjoyed your day.

swimminginaseaofdebt well done on selling the phone and resisting baby clothes.

Counselling and crafts for me today. Spent on a taxi as I felt too wobbly to walk (walked home) but took the cheese spread and crispbread (+ water, beaker, plate and plastic knife) to counselling with me. Some food spending (out of fruit, bread and a few other bits) and expecting tomorrow to be busy.

Have been anxious about a girl from crafts who was clearly unwell last week. Reassured that protocols are in place and someone has spoken to her support workers.

Crafts was good. The 'leader' was suggesting having a clear out last week - storage space is limited and things were falling on the floor. I had said I could use some things to prep for forthcoming projects. Spent the session helping the blind girl to finish some cards, cutting templates for Christmas crafts and have brought loads home to do in the week. Help.

Counselling was thought provoking. Counsellor has suggested I go back to the doctor next week if dizziness does not stop (it is seriously debilitating) and should also emphasise my sleeping pattern.

She has suggested that I give up work (self employed craft worker) for the time being and apply for ESA, with a sick note I should be put in the support group. Then I could concentrate on getting better, getting fit and enjoying life more - I am getting some 'fight' back, feel I am exisiting rather than living and I want and deserve more.

Needs some thought. It feels like a step backwards but that may be a reaction because I have become so used to managing on very little money (ESA is more than I have now) and yet not being entitled to any help, so just plodded on as best I can. Also had a doctor who offered me a 2 week sick note citing 'problems at home' on the day my hip problem was finally diagnosed. I had just been told I needed surgery (complete hip replacement nearly two years ago) and should not be walking, whereupon I cried in the consultant's, cried in the waiting room and cried in the doctor's surgery. He didn't seem to think not being able to walk was any cause for concern.

Counsellor also suggested getting a dog. I am tempted, I know I feel better when I am looking after someone or something else, having to walk at least twice a day would be hugely beneficial but it is a big committment and I am slightly worried about training it (as some people seem to think I have failed to train DS3).

    Hoping to sleep well tonight.

Today I am grateful for (and will do my victory dance) for new directions, fighting back (my sense of humour came first, resilience and underlying reservoir of happiness starting to grow again) and for low fat, gluten free sausages.

    Evening all

NSDs - I'm about to buy new bricks and plate thingy for the wood burner so still on 2/15
    5-a-day - only 3 today
Exercise - 1 hr pilates class. I have missed a couple and am certainly going to feel it tomorrow!
Extra cash - I realised I will get over £100 tax refund when I hand over my car and new car tax is only £20 :T

My happy moment today was uncovering our wood burner for the first time since February when DH boxed it in to protect it from the demolition and building work. I love it and can't wait to get it swept and lit.

Feeling very tired but feel good for making the effort to check in with this challenge every day so far - it sounds like we're all doing a great job!

Today should be another SFD  (no 2). Will save on proper dinner tonight as DH is out with a friend right after work, so I'll share the kids dinner. Didn't bring my wallet so definitely can't spend.

Might even go to the gym at lunchtime. Got a healthy smoothie for elevenses (had to search for the blender, that's how long I haven't had it out :o). Healthier eating starts now again.

Booked a ferry to Amsterdam yesterday (preallocated money) to go and see my parents in Germany just after christmas. It cost £400 but even plus petrol much cheaper than the 4 of us flying now and hiring a car. Still need to pay for accommodation nearer the time.

Still not heard anything about the mysterious £100.45 that appeared in my savings account. I'll maybe leave it till next Monday and phone the bank again.

Might pick up my fleece delivery from the postoffice tonight and get started on the hats for the kids christmas presents.

    Till later

As someone who once sent money to the wrong account number... I had to request the money back via the bank then wait to see if they would agree. If they'd said no there would have been nothing I could do. Thankfully they agreed it could be taken back :o

mothernerd I think the getting a dog suggestion is a fantastic idea! I have 3 and live alone and they really do spark joy into everyday. Have you had a dog before? Don't worry about training, most dogs pick up the basics and the more time you spend with them the more attention they pay to you. I'd suggest a retired greyhound, they don't need huge long walks but will go with you wherever you go and they love to snooze! I could talk about dogs all day!

Not a SFD as bought copious amounts of chocolate to get through the day and for tomorrow as it'll be another 12 hours at school.

    Today I'm dancing because of...
    - chocolate
    - a phone call from my sister
    - the love of my dogs (and cat)

I'd feel bad keeping it. That's why i phoned the bank last Monday. Hopefully it can be returned soon to its rightful owner. Surely they must have noticed by now and there must be a pay in slip or sth with my details on it. I hope the person that paid in realises the mistake because from my side they cant trace it back as it was a cash deposit.

  • Good morning peeps,

NSD yesterday thanks to forgetting my wallet - I should maybe do that more often haha.

Today I need to pay the gym for the month which is a direct debit essentially so I'll still aim for NSD. The gym is new and they don't have a card system yet so I need to pay with cash, hence why it's not at the start of the month. In fact.....maybe today won't be. As I write this I remember I need to make a pit stop at a sports clothes shop to get some golf things for this weekend. Damn.

Hi everyone, well another sfd as I'm not going out today and only went to the lottie yesterday so that's another one. Yesterday I made some courgette soup and put the crock pot on with left over veggies and a tin of beans so that was for yesterday and today. No lottie today as I'm having a chill out day.
Tomorrow I'm out for breakfast but not buying so I'm hoping tomorrow will be a sfd as well.
Hope everybody is feeling OK and still keeping positive. My ferret dance will be in celebration of a pleasant, happy day.
