Credit card advice

Options
Hi All,

I've always found this forum very insightful and helpful, and now I require some advice of my own.

I've got a new job and need to be smarter with my finances as I'm 21 now (wish I started years ago!). I have an overfraft that I'd like to pay off, it's £1350 and I really don't like paying £30 a month for it. I haven't got any other form of borrowing, and most eligibility checkers give me a 8-9/10 chance of being accepted for a credit card. Trouble is, with there being so many credit cards out there I'm a bit confused. I think a balance transfer card with 0% interest for as long as possible, but again not too sure. I could pay it off within a year so if I can do so interest free, brilliant.

With my new job I'm considering getting a loan for a decent car as I'll be doing a fair bit of mileage, so not sure if it's worth getting a loan to pay of the overdraft and buy a new car or to keep them seperate?

If it matters, I'll be earning £18k a year with little outgoings (about £400 a month).

I really appreciate any replies.

Thanks

A BT card won't work. You would need a money transfer card, or a loan.

You only have a small debt, so pay if off as quickly as you can. It should only take 3 months or so as your outgoings are so low.

Then start saving for a car.

For the overdraft you need a card offering Money Transfers.

One loan for everything will probably be simpler, although more expensive than a 0% card.
