    £600 for a dual core i3???

I could have built you an 8 core 16 thread tower unit... Or a 4core 8 thread unit and double the RAM etc..

Nice (NOT) 220w PSU. Upgrades will be a pain.

    Hi

    Yeah I know.
What I was after was an answer from the OP stating it was HDMI to ...

I use a Raspberry Pi with assorted old monitors/TV's and have assorted adaptors to suit, HDMI to ... mostly bought from CPC.

Although the desktop outputs vary it should have DVI ? A picture from you would confirm; its one of these (pic at bottom)

    Then look here http://cpc.farnell.com/dvi-adaptors
You would need a MALE DVI (pins sticking OUT) with FEMALE VGA on the other end.

So we really need to see a picture; I suspect it will be DVI-I (dual link) which is 3x8=24 pins plus 5 analogue pins...

As someone has posted above, it only has two hdmi outputs - no DVI. I've never used an hdmi to VGA converter although a couple of user reviews have said they're using them for this Acer PC without issue.

Sorry, may have missed it!? The OP said "tower has hdmi socket" but I don't believe him/her

I pic of the back of the acer xc 780 would prove it.

when i was looking at monitors last year there was a lot that didn't have hdmi sockets only dvi/vga so find it hard to believe m/boards/graphics cards would not have dvi/vga sockets as a lot still support backward technology
