  • The cake may not be following in the morning - just went into the kitchen to see how much longer it had left on the timer and found that Mr Minx absent-mindedly turned the oven off when he went up to bed half an hour ago!!!!!!!

Ah that isn't good! Dr Witch wonders if it is salvageable or will it have dropped like a stone?
    Must use my stash up!
  • Fortunately the oven cools down very slowly and it was still quite near the top of the tin, so I've bunged it back on for 20 minutes without opening the door. Fingers crossed.

Fingers firmly crossed (can still peck and type!)

  • It's risen! Not quite cooked in the centre, so having another 10 minutes to finish it off and turn the top brown.

Wiping my brow in relief here :T

  • Grab yourself a coffee, KnitWitch, there's some cake left :) It turned out okay, thankfully - either that or my fencing team aren't too fussy ;)

Not much money-making going on here today. I drove Mr Minx to work after his visit to the doctor this morning, then went into town for an appointment of my own - a massage I'd booked as a reward for managing 50 consecutive days of yoga. The local osteopath practice also has a massage therapist, I'd heard very good things about her, and at £30 for an hour, it wasn't hugely expensive.

Well, I knew I was a bit stiff in my shoulder blades, but I didn't realise quite how bad it had got until she leaned on me with her forearm and it honestly felt like she was pushing marbles around under my skin :eek::eek: She spent most of the hour working on my shoulders and back and did a bit of work on my calves as well. All quite painful and I feel a bit like I've been run over by a steamroller this evening, but it's done me an awful lot of good and I'm going to try and go back every six weeks or so. Apparently the knots/marbles are lumps of scar tissue where the muscle fibres have frayed and this is likely caused by hours of typing, so I think I can probably count it as a legitimate business expense!

The new gates have been hung down the road and look great - we're due some settled weather Thursday and Friday so I'm wondering if I can get them painted as a surprise for Mr Minx, who's away from tomorrow until Friday :)

Wootness to the cake being salvaged (and et :rotfl:) but OUCHY to the massage - it sounds as though you needed it though!

Is this the fence all finished (bar the painting) then?

The fence is indeed all finished :D Still have a broken water main though, I need to find out when they're intending to come back and fix that. The forecast has changed to rain now, so I probably won't get them painted - I should wait until the ironmongery's on them to hold them still, anyway.

Mr Minx is away for three nights, so I've been sitting here transcribing an interview for Journalist #3 and slowly working my way through a 35X wagering requirement on a free £10 from a casino. I'm about £125 in and haven't bust out yet, much to my surprise.

I'm a lot less sore than I was yesterday, but still have two very painful spots on my shoulder blades which feel like they've bruised - they haven't, and she warned me this might happen, basically too much blood flows to the area and it inflames. It should calm down in a day or so, but for now I'm keeping my daily yoga very gentle!

My Nationwide card statement came through the other day, so I've now made my first payment towards getting the holiday let debt down and rearranged my sign accordingly :D The £177,416.86 probably isn't peak debt on it  because when we mortgage it to pay off the 0% cards, we intend to borrow extra to go towards funding the next house - although I suppose that extra would be counted against whatever we buy next rather than the holiday let.
